LOL! Miscatafer, I was banging my head after I posted about "seeing a double" before. OF COURSE I have, it's your marvelous cage! Glad you posted a photo here. It's an excellent example of what you can do with two of these!

Haha, thank you! I am so pleased with my cage. It is so versatile, it was easy enough to split up and still give everyone enough room when it came to it. It's also fun to swap things around etc too as you can create such different environments and 'obstacle courses' each time. It looks quite different to that now as I have removed the dig box at the bottom and Boo has the entire top section. My only bug bear with it would be the plastic shelving I guess : I haven't replaced mine but have had chewing, particularly where they try and chew their way to each other haha. I have put wooden boards in Boos section to stop the shelf chewing as much as possible. I think this shelving will last quite a while though! And plastic is easier to wipe clean than wood I have found.

Thank you all for the comments, not taking anything the wrong way at all as it's obviously just advice to help my degu's have a good life! The main issue I have is where to keep a cage of that size, the flat I'm in just wouldn't really be suitable for cages which are much wider, i'll need to check up on the cage dims for ones which have been recommended to me to see if they'd be suitable for the flat. That being said, I'm likely to move before the year is out. I may need to make do with what I have at the moment but could also look into purchasing a bigger one which isn't too wide for the space we have in our current flat. Could someone do a big favour and send me a link for forage foods as well? Thanks for all your comments so far

Misscatafer, Your cage looks amazing. How difficult was it to combine both cages? What tools would be required to do this? Could you be so kind and send me the dimensions of the combined cage also? Thanks Here is my cage to give you an idea! If you have any other questions I am happy to help.

It was easy to combine, you just don't include the two inner panels. because they are the same cage the fittings match, so you just bolt through the middle and they fit together perfectly. Think my partner only needed a screwdriver to do it!
The dimensions are 160cm across, 130cm high and 51cm deep. Hope this helps!

That sounds good to me! By 51 cm deep, do you mean wide? 160 Long? Thanks

Yep that is the one! You can escape proof the plastic bottoms easily with the grill (cut it out and place in the bottom) then cover with a piece of cut-to-size plyboard to protect their feet. The shiny side of the plyboard means it is easy to wipe clean. I also used plyboard to cover the back panels (where it will be against the wall) to reduce mess. You can attach the plyboard using wire. For the front of the cage I am slowly covering this with perspex to further reduce mess. Have fun! It is a beautiful set up once complete, your goos will love it!

Hello Time has gone by and due to being quite tight for cash, it's only now I've got both flat packed cages (arrived today)! I've asked for a piece of plyboard with dimensions 158 long and 48 wide for the floor of the cage. Will be a work in progress for mess reduction. Does it take long to assemble and from what I remember it's quite straight forward to put together? When you mention the grill for the bottom, which part is that and what sort of tool could be used to cut the grill? There may be more questions once the project is up and running... so all help would be much appreciated. Just in time for our goo's Christmas Thanks a lot, all help is much appreciated.

Think it took my partner about an hour to put together, think the only challenging but is bolting it together but it is straight forward if you are diy savvy. He used a small saw to cut the grill out (it's the bottom tray which is supposed to go over the plastic trays) then he filed down the edges to remove any sharp edges.

Hello, Going to give it a go today. Would it work without cutting the grill out if I just put the wood onto the bottom? I've got a cut to fit piece of plywood and it'd be thick enough to work i'd imagine. Issue is I don't have a saw to cut it out and as long as its escape proofed then the wood i've got for the bottom should be fine. Also, I assume it's just a case of building both cages and not having the centre piece which would obviously be the end of one of them if you were to build it as one cage? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure i've got everything covered! Much appreciate all your help, once it's up and going ill share some photos to show you if you want to see the final setup in due course

Hi,
Just in the midst of this now but since there's no holes on the actual sides I can't see how you would combine them without drilling holes to bolt them together.
Am I right in thinking theres holes which need drilled into the side for them to be bolted together?
In the meantime I'm going to have to just build one cage as its own as I have no tools to drill the holes, didn't realise that was required.
Thanks again

Hello, sorry not home at the moment otherwise I would take some pictures for you! No you don't need to drill any holes, you just use the holes which would have been used to bolt the inside centre side on. You may have to buy longer bolts to do this but it is possible.
In regards to the grill, you can put ply wood over the top of the metal bars I guess, but you would be losing the ability to use that lovely deep plastic tray. I fill my bottom trays really deep with shavings and it makes a fantastic digging pit for them. I have also covered three sides of the bottom section with ply wood, then the front of the cage is covered with perspex to prevent fall out.
So sorry I haven't got pictures for you!

Hello, Many thanks for all your kind help. Well noted with the drill bit... Turns out combining the cages is not going to be suitable for the flat i'm in.. There's just no room for it but will be sorting it early next year when I buy a new house which is in the process. I've got the 1x cage built and setup for now, which they're enjoying much more than the P@H cage.

Ohh OK, yes it is a huge cage isn't it at 1.6m across... It is probably the same size as a Welsh dresser so you do need the space. I was house viewing myself today and it is one of the things I'm having to consider... Is there wall space for the dang thing!
Good luck with your house hunting and I'm so glad they are happier in a bigger cage!
