Do your chinchillas watch tv? Have read they like to, & ones I've had previously have loved it. However, I don't now watch tv & don't have one. I know Sir Patrick Stewart & Sir Ian McKellen came from a house that had a tv right next to their cage, so do you think they miss it? Might be persuaded to get a cheap 2nd hand one if it would enrich their lives. Prefer not to, & I'd prefer to concentrate on more natural boredom breakers, but if you think it'll help or they're missing out, I'll do it. Any ideas/advice welcome

Chins appear to love music, especially classical, played softly. I use a radio playing classical music softly at stressful times of the year such as bonfire night. Four of mine are housed in the same room as a t.v. with no reaction whatsoever.

My bunnies love Mozart polly so there must be something in classical music. They binky like crazy when they hear it, pure happiness. Maybe not Wagner though, the heavy metal of the classical world, might have them riding into battle! lol. Have you had your chins since babies - so they've never had a reaction to a tv? Am really reluctant to get a tv (or a licence) so am taking hope from your answer skardsen I think the previous owners of mine were gamers, & the tv was right next to their cage. I suppose I could try putting the laptop near the cage with a youtube gamer on, see if they respond. Saves me shelling out if they don't. Was thinking i could just get a dvd/tv combo & put a dvd on for an hour each night, wouldn't need a licence then (plus I wouldn't succumb to watching tv again!) There's usually music on all day in the house, at the moment it's Babymetal all day every day! The furry ones don't seem to mind, but they're not dancing either! I used to have a dog that LOVED Bob Marley, but hated brass band music - definitely had his preferences

I've had all my chins with the exception of three since babies. Several are in my lounge and none of these react in any way to my TV, regardless of what I'm watching. The only pet that reacts to the TV is the cat, and then only to cats on TV. My chins definitely prefer gentle music. One sits up on his hind legs and half closes his eyes while listening.

By, he's a handsome fella! Look at that magnificent fur. Do you use the blue mountain dust type stuff in his sand bath? That's a whopping set of ears too, can see they're like radar, taking in the music. But it's always the hands/feets that I go soppy over, look at them toes, all chubby & pink lol

He's a stunning, and much loved boy. He's got a fantastic personality, very gentle and loving and very easy to handle. He didn't have a good start in life, but is making up for it now.
