aww congratulations dops, that's a good litter isn't it! So pleased everything went alright, we were all very excited and nervous for you! She will want to have a run and do what she normally does but she will keep going back to the pups to check and feed them. She's probably jumping onto things just because she can jump again now lol. Lula was running around straight away after giving birth but didn't stay away to long. She was obsessed with eating and spent all her time away stuffing her face then going back to feed the pups and have a snooze. I personally would let Lemmi in to see them if he wants to and there's no way he can get with Mowgli but that's just me as I would have wanted my boy to see his pups.

I'd also let dad have playtime with the pups. Hopefully there's a couple of males in there to keep him company later on! Pictures of cuteness please! It's hard to justify going all melty when you can't show people why

Nawww Lula sounds amazing! Mowgli seems to be doing a similar thing of running around like mad, climbing up things she couldnt yesterday, but youre right she keeps going back to check on them. And I just let Lemmi meet them again and he seems to like them! Though he is far more interested in Mowgli, I'm guessing thats the oestrus? Heres a photo!! Not super clear but they're so tiny. And I think there is definitely 7!

You know . . . I think that is a fine idea! Let him see them and get to know them, while she has some break, and it will do them good to have the contact with Dad for that while. I would not do it past the five week mark though, for by then you are getting too close to the time when the little girls will be developed enough for him to mate them.

So gorgeous dops, u cant beat day old pups, bet you cant help stealing little peaks at them, just want to pick them up and kiss their little ears! Luv it how they grow their nose but still have a circle of lighter fur where their noses were flat. Are they all the same colour or do you have special coloured one? You will have to think of 7 names once you know what sex they are, that's harder than watching the birth!! Went to local pet shop today and their were 5 girls but one of them was speckled with white and had a lovely wide white stripe from her nose to her head, the pet shop let me see her and couldn't believe she came right up to my hand and jumped on it, think she wanted to come home with me, even my pups don't greet me like that! She will make a very special pet for someone. Anyway, I have to stop looking at these pups as with 9 in the house I think i've hit my maximum.

Congratulations, they're adorable!! I bet mum is just pleased to be feeling normal again. 7 is a good sized litter, now it's just a case of keeping an eye on things and letting mum do her thing.

I think there might even be 8 of them! They look so well, I can't believe it, they're already clambering out of the nest. Poor Mowgli today was trying to stuff them back in, but as soon as she got one in, another had slipped out! So I gave her a hand popping them in, and she looked very relieved.
No funny coloured ones! All agouti like their mum and dad. Ahh Goolover that degu sounds adorable! I don't really let myself go into pet shops as I know I'll get too tempted..
Have been letting Lemmi meet them a lot, and he seems to like them though does get overwhelmed quite quickly haha and makes a retreat.

Incredibly cute. Never seen Degu that young before, and hopefully never will. Not until our three crazy boys are long gone and I get a mis sexed group from somewhere.

I will upload lots of photos tomorrow, I dont have a camera on my phone, but a friend is coming over and we will take lots! Sorry for the delay
They are so active and keep clambering out of the nest. I have re-arranged the cage again so they can't climb up to any levels but Mowgli can. Poor girl, I found her sleeping on the hard wood shelf today to have a little break from them as they find her everywhere and are so loud! So I made her a little nap bed out of their reach. Lemmi is so sweet with them, very gentle and interested. I have had to make him a little seat by their nest but outside the cage, as when I let him out he likes standing guard by them. Yes keithdonna, they are adorable but I also hope I never have this situation again!
I am thinking I may not risk neutering Lemmi. It depends on how many males there are, but I don't know if I want to run the risk of the surgery if I can potentially make him into a close group with his sons where he would be just as happy. And then I would keep Mowgli, and then maybe 2 of her daughters? I have enough space for 4, but just about, and I don't want to overstretch my time handling them.

OK, you're forgiven If you can get hold of the fluffy hyperactive critters, it should be possible to sex them already. It would be wonderful to have two groups of three, but appreciate the difficulties.

Mowgli and Lemmy just sound like perfect parents. I can just imagine Mowgli's face at having to sleep on a ledge to have 5 minutes peace
