I have a hoodie that has letters and stuff imprinted on it but Chip thinks it is dead skin so tries to chew it!
Just a quick question - Do you need to trim degus claws

I wouldn't try it. If you can find some large flattish, but sort of rough, rocks, then those will work well to help wear down their claws naturally.

Occasionally older degus may need their claws trimming. It's always worth placing a couple of abrasive flat rocks or upside down tiles at strategic points at the bottom of ramps or jumps to help with wear.

Got a rock from the fish department of P@H today. They wearn't sure what it was at first however are used to it now. I put it under their wheel so they make the most use of it!. They are now voluntarily climbing onto my arm!
When we move house (the first time) they wont be able to be let out for 10 weeks, will that be OK?

WOO HOO!! You are gaining ground! So thrilled for you!! They will adapt to not being out for that 10 weeks, but you could have bar pinging during that time. On the plus side, that will have given them ample time to adjust to the new surroundings.

Sorry for my inactivity, I will be back on more April time, but just wondering, Chip has hairless skin behind her ear, is that normal?
(I am still posting on Instagram at @drum_and_chip_degus for photos of them!)

Doesn't sound normal if it is something different that you have noticed.
What does the skin look like?
Do you have a photo?
Have you seen him fussing at it himself or Drum messing with it?

The skin looks slightly blue, but not bright or in a weird way. I havnt seen anyone fussing with it. I have a photo but it is a bit un clear but I will try and get a better one. It sometimes is partially covered by some fur if her head is on an angle.

They tend to have a dusky hue to their skin, unless they have white patches, and then you might see white skin beneath the white hair, so the colour doesn't alarm me.

Could be alopecia. Degus are prone to it.

From what I can see the skin looks OK, that's the important thing. Watch out for Drum over grooming it, there's nothing you can do if he is, it just gives you an explanation.
His front legs look a bit pink and bare, are they always like that? Does the skin look OK close up?

Yeh their legs are bare, first Drum then Chip lost hair on both the front legs. The skin looks normal from what I can see but I'll keep an eye on it.

Not been on here for I while!! Drum and Chip are doing well in our new house. They turned a year in April. Unfortunately our dog died last Wednesday aged 6. The hair around Chips ear hasn't grown back but hasn't caused any issues.
