They are beautiful !!! I don't know much about babies or breeding so I can't be much help but would love to see more photos of them in the pictures section as they grow up xx Some pictures of us hand training them. Plus one of mum and babies for size comparison

Pups should not be rehomed until six weeks age, at the earliest. So we've removed the boys at 6 and a bit weeks as we think they might be a week old. They are going in with the dads. So this seemed a good compromise between more pregnancies and splitting them.

Sounds very sensible. How's dad taken to them?

Sounds very sensible. How's dad taken to them? Dads (we don't know which one!) Great. We put the young boys in a cage next to them for the day. In the evening we introduced them. Watched them for an hour no problems. Went out for 10 mins. Found them all in a degu pile didn't have the heart to make them up to move them back. Checked couple of times an hour apart. All good. As if they hadn't been apart.

Wonderful!! Happy boys! At least until the pups are near 6 months of age. Then they will begin to be combative and looking to take top degu position in the hierarchy of their group. How many males do you have in total now?

How large is your cage for them? The boys cage is definitely too small 50cm x 50cm x 1m but I have 2. The girls. Cage is 2m x 1m x 40cm

They are joined? Even with the twoo of them, that is two small for seven degus, particularly with four pups who are going to be hugely active over the next year-18 months. Look at our forums cage recommendations thread here . . . deguworld.proboards.com/thread/9396/forums-cage-size-recommendations . . . and you will see what kind of collective surface space you need to have for them to live together as a group.

Appreciate that. The plan is to sell/give away some of the pups and go back to having a single sex social group. So the boys are in a temporary home. :-)
