One of the girls is driving me crazy at the moment. At night time around 3-4am one of them wakes up and starts alarm squeaking for no apparent reason at all, goes on for a good 20 minutes before quiet resumes. Nothing has changed at all recently so not sure why this has started happening, any ideas at all?

Do you know if there is any city services active at that time of night? Like garbage pick-up? Are your degus near a window that a cat, or other animal that wanders at night, might be able to look through and alarm the degus?

Garbage pickup is on a Thursday morning so not that. Window is on the second floor so nothing should be able to see in plus the curtains are closed then. I do have cats in the room with me but whenever it's happened both cats have been fast asleep on the bed with me plus the goos are use to them as well. Can't think of what it might be but its such a pain as it then takes me ages to get back to sleep after.

Could be something as simple as the hot water or heating turning on/off?

Could be but wonder why it's suddenly set them off now, silly goos.

Finally found the cage I want for mega cheap! £112 including delivery, one problem is the sale ends on Monday and money not due in until Tuesday of Wednesday arrgh! I can't miss out on this, have messaged my mum asking very nicely if she can front me the money but it's probably unlikely. If I don't manage to get this I'm going to be so very sad for my poor goos

Huzzah! Cage being ordered tonight It's not the liberta but it's pet planets own version of it which as far as I can tell is exactly the same apart from being 3cm longer. It's 96 X 63 X 159 Has two full platforms with a metal edging to help stop bedding falling out, 4 full width door openings, 2 half platforms and 3 ramps.

Excellent news and looks like a great buy! Does it have metal trays?

Yep all trays/platforms/ramps and cage itself is metal. Trays are completely removable as well can't see any disadvantages towards it.

WOW! Great find! You will be so excited to have it. Do you think you will put in a couple of DIY shelves?

Not sure about diy shelves at least not for a bit as I will have the boys cage to sort out which will take me a while. Though I will see how the girls use the space and then decide.

The only visible difference to the Liberta is a small kickboard edge to the upper full level entrance. A brilliant find!

Cage has been picked up courier, had a look at the online instructions and they look like great fun! Hoping it gets here tomorrow.

Bit of advice regarding when the new cage gets here, would it be best to use some of their old bedding to help ease the transfer or is there no point as it will be completely new territory for the three of them? Their hammock and toys will be going over with then so will this be enough? I assume there may be a few squabbles as it will be new and they will be in a different area of the room as well or am i overthinking it?

Totally do use old bedding to help with the transfer. It will make a big difference. In fact don't be shy to use a fair amount of it. It will be much smoother and happier change with all the familiar smells and information contained therein.

Cage is finally put together! Didn't even come with instructions so had to look on the tiny page provided by the website and they were useless! Finally together now though and it's a beast! Having dinner now and then will be hopefully transferring the monsters over!
