Planning on doing quite a big animal shopping order in the next few days to cover me for over Christmas. I was wondering is straw ok for good to use as bedding? They currently just have a mixture of mostly hay with some readigrass and whatever tissues and paper they manage to steal. I tend to go through around 1kg of hay every day just for feeding the 5 goos my 2 rabbits and the Guinea pig so I use quite a lot let alone using it for substrate/bedding for the goos as well so was wondering if straw would be OK to use? I don't really want to put them onto anything like finacard as I really don't like the look of it and the goos love building nests and burrowing in the hay.

You could alternatively give them a toilet roll? It keeps mine occupied for ages, shredding it, then using that to build a nest.

They do have the occasional toilet roll but wanted something to completely cover the floor so might try some straw and see what they think of it.

Yup two little robos, very very cute little things! I think my oh has given up though he said I'm not allowed anything else for the time being, fine by me, next on my list after I've gotten big cages sorted out for my goos would be a couple of sugar gliders...not for a few years though!

De used to expand the robos home, not the best done job but will hopefully work! They haven't yet seemed to have worked out the toilet roll tube to get to the second level yet though so will have to keep an eye on them to make sure they can get up there

Do you keep them in your bedroom?

I've recently been using a new food I found in pets at home since I like to give my goos a lot of variety and unfortunately fresh forage has now disappeared here for the winter, found this and thought it looked quite good and the goos like it but was wondering what every one else thought?

Is that the Natures Touch? I've been meaning to add it to the commercial food chart for ages. The fibre content isn't bad but it does still contain grains, and there is no info for calcium and phosphorus, but as bran is the first ingredient it will contain loads of phosphorus so the calcium supplementation in it would need to be quite high to keep it balanced, I suspect. It's probably about average. I just got some of the hamster version for our robo to try and Timmy is not impressed, he doesn't like the pellets in it and the rest is just light weight set dressing. If you have a 'The Range' shop near you you could try their new food that Saggy mentioned, I think it's Rosewood Naturals degu and chinchilla quad pellets, it's grain free, good vitamin and mineral content, about the best you can buy in the shops.
You need some swimmers earplugs!

Ooh I'll have a look in my local Range and see if I can find it. Mine have Science Select nuggets and Natures Touch but I want to expand a bit more. They scatter the natures touch around the cage getting the best bits and leave the rest. They seem to like the nuggets.

Thanks I will have a look, I got the hamster version for the robos as well and they quite like it. Pregnancy nothing so far so maybe just fat but I don't know she still just seems too big to be fat especially as she doesn't eat that much, time will tell I guess!
