I have recently found out that it is highly likely my degu is pregnant... Unexpectedly. Does anyone have a advise about caring for pregnant degu as I have search the internet but didn't find much... Only to feed more treats and handle as less as possible. Any advise would be great. Thanks in advance.

I've seen your other thread so I gather the male is now neutered so that side of things is taken care of. You can help with diet, which should really be the same as normal with plenty of forage and oil seeds as these will provide the extra minerals she needs and fat. Have a look at our feeding guide deguworld.proboards.com/thread/16425/degu-feeding-guide If you have been feeding a more traditional mainly commercial food diet, you can add in bought herb mixes and oil seeds with high mineral content fairly easily, if you follow the links in the guides it shows you where to buy them, you can even buy some things in the supermarket. It is also a good time of year to be picking dandelions, plantain, ground elder, clover, grass, herbs etc as fresh forage. You might also want to think about housing for the future, and do you have degu experienced vet in case of emergency?

Thank you for your advise Moletteuk. The page link attached has some very useful information. I do offer range of different vegetables both fresh and dry on a daily basis and am very cautious about sugar content but now will supply more now I know what they can have. I began to have a little think about the future I am hoping to keep a couple of the pups but all depends on how many she has and the sexes as I'm very wary about them going to a good home. I'm on the hunt for a vet that is degu friendly, me and my family use to live in Devon therevas an amazing vet down there which is were we got the male Chewie neutered but recently we moved and now we live in Berkshire, I have in contact with a few vets near hear but they both seem to have no idea what a degu was! I am going to make a thread to see if anyone knows of a degu friendly vet. Once again thank you for your advise.

Some further things you should keep in mind: make the cage baby-proof: small mesh, no heights the babies could fall, no deep water bowl (so either use a bottle or just a small plate), take out the running wheel or plate (or, if possible, put it in a place where the babies cannot reach it).
After birth, the babies will start to discover their home pretty soon, so from the 3rd or 4th day on you will see them running around, trying out everything. They are fast little things without any fear of anything.
