Hello, about a week ago I bought the last degu available at my local pet store. I had been researching degus and asked about her when the owner told me she was their last and wouldn't be getting anymore in due to their local breeder going out of business. So I took her home hoping to find her a companion before to long. Now she has really put on weight in the last day or so and I believe her to be pregnant. I am putting some large guards on my cage to make sure any loose baby goos don't wander out of the cage, and trying to make her as secure and comfortable as possible. Here is my question. Will she be able to comfortably raise the pups on her own? I found a woman who bought my girls sibling, and is possibly the father of her pups. She is offering to let me borrow him to ease her stress level and to help raise the pups with her. But I'm also concerned about rebreeding. I am having no luck finding another female in my area to introduce to her, and I'm afraid she's to close to delivery for it to make a difference now anyways. Should I accept the womans offer or let my goo go it alone?

It will be fine - she will be great raising the babies and now you don't have to worry about finding a companion, just keep one or two of her girl babies . Maybe your friend will take the boy babies and you wont even have to search for anyone to sell the babies too Just give mom some extra food, even some extra higher calorie like sunflower seeds and nuts, hay and paper towels for nesting material and waiting for miracle. Good luck!
