i have a Degu who is 16ish weeks old, she has recently gotten quite large and pear shaped. My family and myself are convinced that she is pregnant. I've only had her since Christmas and she came with another female. Since then I have also gotten two other females. (They are all females, I'm sure) I looked up online that some Degus are bought pregnant. The thing is, I don't know how far along she is and she is showing most, if not all of the symptoms of pregnancy. I've given her bedding and taken all the propper precautions. Is there any way to tell for sure if she is and how far along she is?

When I got my four goos, I was sure they were all females but I was wrong. One of them, Azure, was peeing blood so I took her to the vet. The vet thought she might be pregnant so, even though I insisted that there was no way she could be, he took a radiograph just to check. He expected to see the skulls of any babies. He didn't, but a week or so later, Azure miscarried 4 premature pups. With the help of Degu and Chinchilla World I was able to identify the male (changed Sienna's name to Sean), separate him, and then waited to see if the other two females were pregnant. They were. A month later Lilac had 6 pups, and a month after that Peridot had her 7.
Based on your observations, it does seem to indicate that your goo is pregnant. Gestation is 3 months so you will know for sure probably in a month or so – if she is very big now, it is likely that she is close to giving birth. If you are 100% sure the others are female, then she is probably at minimum 2 months along. You could take her to the vet and have a radiograph done. (However, handling should be minimized – it can cause a miscarriage which is very dangerous to the mom.) Otherwise, you should know by the end of March.
Please keep us posted.
BTW: When the pups were born, I took each litter to the vet when they reached 6-8 weeks and had him sex them (too paranoid to sex them myself – couldn't afford the consequences of a mistake). Then I put the boys in with their father (he was so happy to have their company), and left the girls in with their mothers.

It can be very difficult to be sure if she is pregnant. I would agree with Yasmin, that it is worth checking and checking again the sexes, sometimes it's not so easy to judge. It would already be pretty dangerous for such a young degu to be pregnant, and with them being fertile straight after giving birth it's essential she doesn't get pregnant again. If we assume from how she looks that she might be 8 weeks or so, it's very important for such a young degu to be getting a good diet with plenty of calcium, so do have a browse in our diet section, she would need plenty of natural forage and some high calcium oil seeds.
Degus do tend to grow at different rates, and they also fluff up their fur considerably when they are cold, which can make them look bigger than they are.
