Another update about Seymour. Unfortunately, after many months of bouncing back and forth between seeming better and then worse again, Seymour finally had to be put to sleep It turns out he had an infection that had spread to his jaw bone, and even after lengthy courses of one antibiotic followed by another he still had to lose a number of teeth that were loose in his jaw. During his third tooth removal his jaw bone fractured (according to the vet performing the operation it was so fragile from infection it just crumbled away) and the vet said that there was nothing they would be able to do. Trying to wire the jaw shut would just track the infection further, and he would have been in a lot of pain at the time as well. It's so hard to know what the right thing to do is, but my partner and I listened to our vet and Seymour is no longer with us

I'm so very sorry for your loss. The exact same thing happened to me a month or so ago so I know what you must be going through. They leave a big hole in your heart for such little creatures.
Rest in peace Seymour.

So sorry for your loss. It is the hardest decision to make, but sometimes it is the only choice we have.
