Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Nothing much has been going on tbh. Buddy and Stu are getting on quite well, nothing overtly affectionate but they seem to tolerate each other well , over an hour at a time now. The biggest problem now is who do we add next, Brian or Mater?

You are going to have to face the fact that the dominant degu has got to be brought into the intros at some time, but I can understand your hesitancy, perhaps if you can get the three submissive degus together first it will make him less likely to singel out a degu when the foursome are introduced. What are your gut feelings?

I am leaning towards Brian but my worry is that he is so scared of everything he might cause a protective assault on Buddy from Stu.

Thought I'd give everyone a quick update. Not been around much as I've been really ill with mumps. Sadly this means that the little goos have taken a bit of a back seat of late, unfortunately they haven't had a face to face intro for over a week and something has gone awry somewhere in that week, they used to talk through the bars but when I spent a couple of hours in the living room this afternoon they were ignoring each other again. :-(
I'm still feeling a bit off so it might be another few days before they get another face to face, but how far back is this break likely to set things? They were doing so well I am so disappointed that we have had to stop through no fault of theirs.

Well Buddy and Stu are back to where they were but we seem to have hit a bit of a roadblock. They don't fight any more but neither seems to want to concede. Stu is frequently trying to mount Buddy but Buddy turns and slaps and squeaks at him. Buddy has made no attempt to mount Stu but he just doesn't seem to want to back down and be mounted. Its frustrating because I'm fairly certain if he would give in they would be quite happy together. Tempted to add another goo to the mix but might be being a bit impatient maybe? Thoughts? Wait it out or add a third?

Well, still plodding on with Buddy and Stu, no massive changes unfortunately. Seriously considering adding Brian to the mix and see if there is any more progress next week. Will keep our fingers crossed, a FBOD in a smallish cage with three goos in could be a nightmare.....

Flipping brilliant! Buddy a Stu had an hour of together time again today and all was fine (no real progress but no problems). After the meeting we put them both back in their respective cages and for apparently no real reasong, Brian turned on Stu! Argh!!!!

Likely the smell of Buddy on Stu is the cause. Sounds like you need to add Brian into the mix . . . but you need to know it may not go well.

Keep saying we'll introduce Brian but not been brave enough to do it yet. Think we'll have to bite the bullet and give it a go though.
