Just out of interest, what brand/s of hay do chinchilla keepers on this forum recommend. My boys are given P@H Timothy hay at the moment but I feel there is/are more nutritious brands out there. Your views would be welcomed.

I'm not a Chinchilla owner but my degus get Oxbow brand western timothy hay (and sometimes alfalfa). I have bought other brands but they often have a large proportion of straw-like and brown bits. Oxbow is usually always very fresh, green, soft and fragrant.

I think it's a case of trying different types and see what they prefer. Meadow hay is just as good, if not better than timothy hay, it's just that it can be easier to get good consistent quality of timothy hay. If it smells good and they like it then it's fine, I would say be prepared to ditch the odd bag now and then, I like to keep a couple of different types on the go at once and then it's an easier transfer when a bag runs out. Have a look at our hay review thread deguworld.proboards.com/thread/15533
