Hi,
We just got our first pair of degus yesterday, and noticed during the night, one of them was squeeking (not the chirping) in it's sleep. Everytime I'd hear it, I would be concerned and check up on them, and they would just be curled up asleep - so I'm guessing he just talks in his sleep. Anyone else have had this experience? I'm a little concerned. Thanks!
Their names are Taisuke (pronounced Tie-skay) and Mario ^_^

As long as their general health and behaviour seems ok, I wouldnt worry too much. It could just be talking!!
Degus are creatures with a lot of personality, so I wouldnt be suprised if this was the case!!

Hello Shigatsu, we have had that, too. They beep and when you enter the room they look at you, their eyes barely open, sitting curled up in a corner. I think they might dream sometimes, just like we do... As sunshinemeg said, as long as they seem to be healthy, no worries!

Ours do the same, they squabble like best friends, they cuddle like sweethearts and nip as if arguing like siblings. In time you'll get to see the hilarious antics these critters display. Congrats and good luck. We adopted our 1st pair approx 2.5 months ago, last nite we had 7 babies imagine our surprise. Sandy
