Will which boost their vitamins? I doubt the pumice thing will have much effect because they will probably nibble it once and then ignore it. All the calcium seeds will help - have a look at our nutrition charts for the highest calcium ones. The general ratrations degu mix with some extra fennel and dill seed added would probably be a good option for you. Also alfalfa can boost calcium.
Check out our commercial food guide again. If you are feeding JRF Adult or Feast you NEED to either add calcium powder or feed calcium seeds and alfalfa because the mixes don't contain enough calcium, which can lead to teeth problems.

Yes, that's the seed mix. You can buy individual seed types from ratrations too, so just order some extra fennel and dill or whatever at the same time. They have some other good stuff like burdock roots too.
The dill I meant is dried dill seeds. Flax seed is the same as linseed, which is already in the RRations mix.

So here's my "can they actually eat this?!" question,
PaH chinchilla calcium sticks - also suitable for rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, degus and hamsters.
Composition: cereals, seeds (min 10%), derivatives of vegetable origin, minerals, honey (min 0.2%(?!)), oils and fats
Additives: colourants, preservatives, nutritional additives: vitamin A 11087IU/kg, vitamin d3 11091IU/kg, vitamin E (?-tocopherol) 99mg/kg, calcium 1.6%, phosphorous 0.3%
Analytical contents: protein 10%, crude fibre 8%, oils and fats 2%, crude ash 5.5%, moisture 12.5%
It's the honey which is concerning me. It says you can leave the sticks in the cage; if I were to use them I'd probably break into tiny pieces and feed very sparingly. But "degus should not eat sugar" is a pretty straightforward statement, even if vegetable sugars are fine occasionally and a non-diabetic degu can be treated with a tiny bit of fruit on special occasions...

Well, personally I wouldn't feed it. The amount of honey that's in the sticks is unlikely to have a hugely negative effect if it's eaten im small quantities, but I firmly keep mine on a grainless diet to try and keep their cataracts in check. If you want things like hanging sticks, zooplus has some grainless snacks that go down well with my boys and has an ingredient list which is much better. They aren't used to supplement calcium, but if you have a look at the oil seed charts and the likes, you can increase their calcium intake through a seed mix like the degu specific one on ratrations, and it's much better for them.

Can I give almonds (the sweet ones) to my degus I've heard only once a month and I've given them one each but I read on one website not to give and I've already given! Help!

Sweet almonds are perfectly fine, I've fed them to my lot with no problems. The reason you might have seen not to is the bitter variant which contains a toxic substance (cyanide comes to mind but don't quote me on that) that have, in rare occurrances, been found in bags of almonds for human comsumption (a single bitter almond will cause nausea and headaches in people but is in toxic quantities for small animals).

So mr grey decided he was going to have a munch on my valentines roses when my back was turned and before I could stop him he'd run away with a mouth full of petals, if I wash and try the petals and leaves out can they have them as a treat then I can recycle my roses

I wouldn't most commercial rose growers use a lot of pesticides.

So sorry AMC, your post must have gotten lost with others.
Cornflower is a good choice for feeding fresh. It's one of the few things that I've had 100% success with in terms of being readily eaten!

I can't find any information on seaweed but I would not feed it, it is very high in mineral content and so could have adverse effects.

I cannot give you a quote, nor can I remember where it can be found, but I remember a conversation on this a year or so ago and seaweed is not safe for degus. Although I do not remember the specifics, the iodine content is one of the issues. I'm pretty sure Maravilla was the one that answered this for us.

I'm pretty sure Maravilla was the one that answered this for us. Me? Than you would know more than I do. I do not find any information about seaweed either, but also remember that there was somebody asking the same. But actually I would not know why to feed it as a degu in its natural habit would never have access to seaweed (well, to other plants and seeds we feed neither, but you won't find a degu looking for something growing in cold and salty water).

LOL!! Sorry, Maravilla, I clearly did not remember correctly. Perhaps it was Davx? Haven't seen him in a very long time. I miss him!
Anyhow, I don't think it, seaweed/kelp, should be given to degus.
