So basically went to p@h to get some stuff and come across the degu and i was smitten ;D. It was the first time i have actually ever seen any in real life and oh my gosh they were soo cute and fun to watch zooming and jumping about...... i'm sure i looked like a weirdo for the next hour just basically on my knees talking to them ,smiling and laughing at their antics etc. . Now having seen them and stuff i would love to have some of my own, which is why i have joined this forum so that when i do hopefully get them in the near future i will have all the knowleadge from you experts to make sure i give them the best life possible. Lastly if you haven't got bored and stopped reading , my name is kirsty and am currently the proud mummy of 3 male gerbils and a syrian hamster .

Lol welcome to the forum Kirsty! We've all been won over by the little fellows! I have four and still play with the ones at P@H for about 30 mins giving them scratches through the cage lol. I'm glad you decided to do some research before buying any, they are a long term commitment with them living for 6-8 years (plus pets at home recommends very unsuitable cages for them)! I hope you like the forum and we have some games and stuff going on in the general chat section if you fancy getting to know people a bit!

Hello, Kirsty, and welcome to the forum! This is a great place to learn about degus, and to ask your questions, which will multiply the more you learn about them. They are WONDERFUL little furbabies, and they are so entertaining, as you already know. I hope you will enjoy our forum!

We studied for about 2/3 years before getting ours then panicked within the first week as we weren't sure of stuff No questions are to silly (believe me there are some silly ones), it's just all part of goo keeping. Well done you for checking in here before taking them on. Hope you find some loving degus to entertain you for years to come

I forgot to mention... While everyone else is fooling round... ;D we love seeing pics of everyone's pets, whether they are furry, feathery, scaly or snail-like (dusty is a bit cracked) so if you want to show off your gerbils and hammy then feel free

I also fell into the cute trap that is the Degu. After going into pets at home feeling slightly sorry for myself i ended up taking 2 home and popping back the next day for the 3rd. I applaud you for not bringing them home with you!
