Posted by USA member Winic: I just found a flower and herb mix, in a local store, purely by accident. Not intended for housepets--it's CHICKEN TREAT MIX. yes, was roaming a local garden and feed store (Agway, for my fellow Americans) and at the end of the aisle of chicken feed, feeders, fencing, etc, was this bag of flowers and herbs mix! Very expensive way to get it, but for a first try of many of these items, we thought this was the way to go before placing a big order. My guys lived in a shelter for almost two years and obviously never had anything but hay and pellets, as they won't even touch fresh grass, and have rejected the leaves and things I did manage to have on hand. Put a bowl in, and they dug right in! Nervously, dove in and started chewing, then darted back while another dove in, as if they weren't sure they should be doing that, but it looks like a great success. Will see what they do and don't eat, and then I know what to order in bigger quantities.

Word of Warning for Monterey Bay Spice Company--just got an order of a wide variety of herbs from them. They say that "cut and sifted" means pieces are 1/4-1/2" in size. NOT TRUE. Some items were. Most were barely 1/4". Several were NOT--the oregano was tiny, like you get out of a shaker bottle of oregano at the grocery store. Not a whole lot bigger than powder. Same for the burdock leaves--mostly powder-like. The red clover plant-flowers and leaves-they show a picture of florets and whole leaves, but nope, nothing is bigger than a single floret out of a flower head, tiny tiny tiny.
Called customer service, they asked for pictures, which I sent, with a ruler across the bags for reference on the sizes. Agent says she talked to her manager, who said, well, that's the way the products are, too bad. Told her to tell me that if I didn't like it cut that small, I shouldn't order it again. She offered to set up an RMA for me, but I would have to pay the return shipping, which would cost as much as the products that are completely inadequate.
I will not be ordering herbs from them again. Might possibly do the dandelion root pieces and some seeds if I cannot find them elsewhere. But very unhappy with not only the products but the whole attitude of the company.

I've used Monterey Bay Spice Co for seeds, but that was a while ago since I ordered in bulk. I know Winic1 wasn't happy with her experience there.
I'm currently using Mountain Rose Herbs for all my dried forage. They seem like a great company, but I'm not thrilled with how small the pieces of forage are. I haven't found a place in the US that has decently sized pieces of forage.

Sadly I don’t. Most of the stuff I give my goos comes from either my garden or friends gardens

Those do look good!! Thank you for posting that here, Butters!! I do wish that the pieces were not so small . . . some of them make me think of the dried herbs we use in kitchen cooking.
