Ok, so this evening I found a snail ( common garden type) sliding down my window, he/she was quite pretty so instead of flicking it off to drop to the ground - about 30ft we collected it and brought it inside. It is a cute little one but its shell is a bit damaged, I gues the local crows or magpies have had a go - hence why it ended up on my windows in an upstairs flat. The question now is what to do with it, I have a small fish tank, what do they eat, should I chuck it out the front door and let it take its chances, awww it really is quite cute and having some shell damage I guess it won't last too long in the open wilderness etc..... What should I do next??? Can you give a snail rehab?? what do they need?

Ermm how bad is the damage? Is it just the edge of the shell? Snails tend to eat any plants you don't want them to ;D They would like a damp substrate, an easy food is lettice and some way to stop them getting out, if you was planning on keeping it for rehab (not sure if it can be done) then you would need something to replace the shell (cuttle fish bone should be good for this) Not sure if this would work but it could be worth a try.

its shell damage i think is quite minor. He/she is already very freindly. Havin said that its shell is cracked although most of it is all still in place. obviously if i put it outside in this weather etc it wont survive. I have a very small fish tank that maybe tonight we could get together for it to stay in for a while. So I have some dried dandelion n stuff for the goos, there is a bit of cabbage thats rapidly going off...........should i put it in the fish tank with some plum tree wood n rotting cabbage!!! ?

Hahahahahahahaha! love this ;D You need some superglue, or a mini glass fibre repair kit....or don't you live near the see, you could just go find Simeon a new shell, grease it up so he can do a quick swap

Yuck I think we may just leave him in the tank to recover. Do snails hibernate?

Snails will burrow down into the soil, but not sure about hibernating as such.
Snail shell swap ;D Brill
