Hello, My little Elly is pregnant and due any day now! Yay! However I have been able to see the babies move for about 2 weeks now! She is more pear shaped now than she has been but I havnt seen the babies move here for awile. Her and her mate have been making a nest in the corner f the cage out of Kleenex. I'm wondering if this is normal(babies not moving much) and when I could estimate the pups being here. My male goo is pretty much leaving her alone but when he goes to groom her she gets fussy. She even squeaks at me a little. She is still eating and stuff so I'm still worried something might be wrong! Pls help! Thanks!

Everything should be fine. The most important thing right now is that Mom is eating and drinking and doing fine. And don't handle her (handling could cause a miscarriage).
If you know when the pups were conceived, then they should be born approx. three months later.
Good luck. Please keep us posted.

If she hasn't been bleeding yet or anything, then she probably hasn't gone into labor at all. It is nerve wracking isn't it, all the waiting? I'm sure she is fine, but her time must be very near!! Do let us know how she is doing, and when the pups arrive.

I'd guessed that babies move less as they have less room. Maybe a phone call to the vet just to ask?

I went through something like this a little while back. My goo, Dexter, was in labor for two weeks before I was able to take her to the vet. She had nine pups, but sadly they all died before they were born. I knew something was wrong, though. Don't worry. I wouldn't be paranoid if I were you. If something was wrong, you'd know it. I spent a looong time around my degus and I knew immediately when something was wrong. She was having contractions for hours and hours and she was bleeding, and for a while she wasn't eating or drinking. That's the first difference--She'll stop eating and drinking. You can also see when they have contractions, but generally you wont get the chance to see it with degus. They usually give birth at night, from what I'm told. It's a wake-up-to-find-babies kind of thing.

It's a wake-up-to-find-babies kind of thing. That makes me want to breed my girls just once so i can feel all proud like that but sadly i dont have the room for babies so no breeding for me till i can talk the OH into letting me get rid of the sofas its not like we NEED to sit down . Any news yet? hope its all going well, still have my fingers crossed.

I'm starting to get so excited! Little Elly is really starting to show signs of labor here soon! She is now staying in the nest much more and she is laying around much more! When she is out of the nest the male sits in there! I checked for babies and there isn't any yet, but I think they may be practicing or something! She is still eating and drinking so I don't think the tome is here just yet! Now the whole family is getting anxious! She is not bleeding yet and isn't having contractions that I can tell! Any ideas why they are doing the trade off on the nest behavior? Thanks so much, all of you have been so helpful and great!

No babies yet!!!!! I can't wait! I can feel her little bumpies on her belly, by the way they are getting bigger! The little babies are just as active as ever and now when they kick she has to adjust and squeaks at them! It is so cute! She has slowed on the eating. The food bowl hasn't been eaten out of much besides by Diego! But even he has slowed a little! She is also sitting in her Kleenex nest much much more! I am so excited!

I've heard the babies become way more active right before birth.
