Hi all, Monday we were cleaning them out and were shocked to find a little baby in amongst the hay and sawdust!!!! ;D (we did actually find 2 but one must have been still born ) we have 4 female Goos (inc 2 that we adopted in May) we can only presume that mummy was already pregnant when we adopted her and daughter. We have managed to get a quick piccy of the little one - code name "gherkin" and would appreciate an some expert eyes to see if we have a little girl or a little boy......Its not a very clear picture as I quickly took it on my phone, but can anyone tell from this? I can get a better pic later if required Thanks all! Attachments:

Congratulations. Yes, one of them must have been pregnant when you got them (3 month gestation). Are you sure that one of them isn't a male? (Only asking this because in June of last year I adopted what I was told were four females. However, when one of the females, Azure, miscarried four babies in August, I had a look myself and found that "Sienna" was actually "Sean" and removed him immediately. Too late though – the other females were already pregnant. Lilac gave birth in September and Peridot in October.) I will leave the sexing of your little "gherkin" to the experts. Good luck.

First thought is female, but a clearer picture would help. Congratulations!

Thanks for the replies guys.
I will try to get a better picture tonight but fingers crossed she is a girl as will make our life easier!
Yasmin - we're fairly confident all of our 4 are girls - when we adopted dusty (mummy) and nutmeg (daughter) we were warned that there was a very slim chance she may be pregnant as the father was left in with her for a very short while........... our guess is he didnt waste any time!!

Frankly, the picture looks like male parts. The top picture makes little Gherkin look female, but the bottom picture makes Gherkin look male. Hmm. How old is Gherkin?

I think the pup is male as well. There is enough distance between the two bits that it looks male. All our pups that have been female had bits right next to each other. You've got a little boy there.

Hi All,
thanks for eeveryone's input.
At present little gherkin is still less than a week old so am I better off waiting a few weeks and taking a few more pics and getting opinions or is it easy to tell at this age?
Convcern we have is that we have 4 girls so if we have a little girl then that is perfect for our set up.
A little boy, however, makes things a bit more difficult as we'd have to either put him up for adoption or maybe look to seperate him and get him neutered. Im not sure we'd be able to put him up for adooption as after only a week he/she feels like one of the family!
Then we'd also have the issue that we'd need to seperate him from the girls before he could do any "damage" lol
we were so chuffed when the concensus was we had a little girl....... now people are saying boy it makes like a little more difficult.
On a side note - if we do have a little boy does anyone know of any recommended vets in the kent area specialising or have decent experience with goo's?

We have found that they don't seem to change much in appearance from birth to older. So I'm pretty sure there will be no change from now till the six weeks mark. However, keep on checking the little love out, and maybe there will be!!

Hi Deguconvert,
thanks for the advice.... we will try and get one final (clear!) photo over the weekend so hopefully we can then confirm 100%
that link you gave me is great - and handily enough one of the vets on there is only 20mins from me and had already been recommended to us by our local vet so either way we'll be keeping our little gherkin!
