You'll all be relieved to know that I've taken Dexter to the vet. It's too late for oxytocin (labor stopped), so she is scheduled for surgery to removed the remaining two babies, uterus and ovaries this Friday. She's going to be just fine. ;D Knowing she's going to be alright is such an immense stress relief for me. She's been acting normally, and it's extremely rare for something like this to end up not being fatal, but she somehow managed to make it through without severe complications. She's also acting normally, almost as if nothing is wrong. I will post pictures after her surgery to let you know how she's doing.

I'm glad you're both now relieved. I am too. This has been a difficult experience. It feels so good knowing I wont lose her, especially since this whole time I was positive I would. She's a trooper, though. I've never met such a strong willed little mammal before.

Hey, guys!
No wonder Dex was having issues. She just got out of surgery (went just fine), and she had a total of NINE babies. The vet said it's possible that by the end of her pregnancy there was so little room that the babies couldn't get into birthing position.

That's great news that the surgery went well Did any of the babies make it?

None of them made it. Even the vet was hoping there would be at least one that survived, but sadly, there were none. She lost 1/3 of her body weight just from the surgery. She is now a bit smaller than her mate. He thinks while she was trying to give birth she got bacteria inside that ended up killing off all of the babies and that at one point they got too big to move into the birthing position.

She was in labor for almost three weeks. The odds of them surviving this whole time are slim. I'm just glad she is okay at this point. She's my little baby. It would have been wonderful if the babies had survived as well, but I knew that wouldn't happen.
