Thank you for that. I've just ordered some stuff. Did you order things to grow yourself? I'd love to hear how you get on I'll keep you posted. My plan is to make a kind of raised bed area with lots of plants and some sort of fencing to let the degus and the guinea pigs out. Not together at the same time but it needs to be plants and herbs that are safe for both.

I'm going to chance my arm at getting FutterParadies.de. to deliver to Ireland, the prices are unbelievably good in comparison to the other stores i've seen, and the variety is really good!!

Hansemann's are very easy to deal with; I speak enough German to place my order, but they replied in english (must have worked it out from my email address and "how much is postage to the UK please?" They were very helpful, postage was not unreasonable. Let's see, I ordered... I bought two of the 5kg bags of SAB Degu plant mix for 59Eur50 - I got a discount for bulk ordering, and shipping was 17Eur34 by DHL. I have four (had five at the time) degus, I ordered in April and it's now January, I'm just coming to the end of the first bag and I've been incredibly generous with my handfuls for the goos. They do have an "expiry" on them, but I'm keeping the bags in a cool dark place and kinda hoping they don't go manky. For me, it was worth it to get two bags at once - I've no idea what postage would be for a smaller quantity, but I just wanted to highlight that a 10kg box shipped for about 10% of the item cost. Which might be a useful benchmark for people maybe?

My postage weight was just under 10kg I think and cost about the same, and I also found them easy to deal with. I'm just ignoring the expiry dates because everything just seemed to have 6 months date on it, JR Farm prepacked forage usually has about 2yrs on it and some of my self collected stuff I must keep getting on for a year.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, so please move it if it fits better elsewhere. I have today had a lovely conversation with Trinity Orchards in Cambridge. They grow organically, so no pesticides and use biodiversity for pest control. They also supply apple wood chew sticks which are harvested by hand. This is the info they sent me. "I supply chew sticks in boxes approximately 26cm high x 38cm long x 30cm wide. The chew sticks are freshly harvested to order, so please could you advise of the approximate thickness (diameter) of the sticks that you require. Price per box £10.00 + VAT 20% = 12.00 Courier including VAT = 8.00 Total cost per box £20.00 I you wish to collect yourself then please advise." I'm placing an order later today so I'll report back, especially as I'm getting them some 4 inch thick 'sticks.' Here's the link to their website. www.trinityorchards.co.uk/

Wood arrived today! I couldn't even lift the box.
Chock-full of freshly cut apple wood, still damp with a lot of green lichen on it, so I'll clean that off before I let the guys loose on it. Some of the branches are just over 2 inch diameter and over a foot long do I can arrange some of those in their cages as runs as well as chews if I can figure out how to attach them.
I think they'll like it.

Recently placed an order (via eBay) from Bunny Bistro, also known as Norfolk Feeds. They have numerous forage mixes, so I got 5 different 1kg bags. Bags are usually £13.99, but you get a discount for each additional bag in your order. I ended up paying £11.89 per bag, and free delivery. There is a specific degu and chinchilla mix, but it contains carrot and parsnip pieces, so I opted for others. Speaks for itself, really. There are some larger pieces in there that I may have to trim down. Contains dandelion, burdock, chicory, and nettle. Contains dandelion leaf, alfalfa, parsley stalks, hops, rose flowers, marigold flowers, echinacea stalks and flowers, chamomile, plantain, lemon balm, and lavender. Contains parsley stalks, nettle, alfalfa, marigold, red cornflowers, spearmint, dandelion, and raspberry leaf. Contains parsley, tarragon, coriander, chervil, and dill. EDIT: I put a small bowl out during free-range yesterday. Everyone stuck their noses in, because it does smell nice, and a nibble. This evening, the big boys are away. Spud happily sat and ate everything I'd put out, so definitely appreciated. Contains parsley, coriander, birch leaves, roses, spearmint, dandelion, alfalfa, raspberry leaves, and echinacea I think I'll give them a small amount of each to sample, but will likely mix them together. I'll update as they munch their way through!

Yes, I order from them when I'm in Austria, but they won't ship to the UK. When I asked last year, they said there were no plans to, either.

Well ratrations and minipetz have great choice for degu SAB mixes for the UK. I don't know if they want to send to other european countries besides The Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Austria and Germany.

What do you recommend for U.S. shops? I use Chewy, Etsy, and Amazon for a lot of stuff.
