P@H Guinea Pig's Herbal Forage  I can't find the ingredient list online, but I know that everything is safe. It was well received at first but the degus soon got bored of this mix. It's a small bag with some good sized pieces but if you feed herbs as much as I do then it won't last you long at all. I paid £29.99 through ebay. Ingredients: Calendula, mullein, rose petals, hibiscus, marshmallow flowers Great sized calendula, marshmallow and hibiscus flowers. It's extremely well received by my boys and smells fantastic. I was a little dubious about the price tag at first but with the degus reaction to it, I can honestly say it was a good purchase. I would definitely buy this again.

This is a post that's going to require editing as I use them more. I put in a Hansemann's order of several different mixes and received it yesterday so all I can currently say for most is that they look to be of good quality, however my preference would be to go for separate mixes (i.e. flower, forage and herb mixes) and mix my own batch rather than using the old or new SAB ones. It isn't that I think there is anything wrong with them, I just always like to tailor my own degus diet more to introduce variation and maintain interest which is also why I buy in seeds separately and make my own seed mixes. Update - I've fed everything at least once and the majority of it was all gone a few hours later/the next morning depending on when it was given. Considering the small change in price, if I wanted a flower mix I'd go for the premium flower charm and use the Premium Blossom Dream as a once/twice a week change.
Mixes, my preference is the Happiness or old SAB mix (Exquisite Plant Mix) as the boys showed a little more enthusiasm over them.

Shockingly they willingly grabbed and devoured a pea flake each that they've never been bothered by in the past. Good quality with large pieces, so would be useful for hand taming. |
