Rocks?

Just thought I'd check, just in case. Was up on my back hill looking for some flat rocks for various cages. (Guinea pigs (cavies) keep pulling up their newspaper to eat the puppy-pad underneath, puppy-pad solved problem of them preferring to pee just outside of litter tray. Rocks anchor edges of paper, and vary the surface they walk on.)
Found several, but these are limestone. Not what gets cut & carved type limestone, grey and solid, but actual, fresh, raw, white limestone, once I washed the dirt off. Bet if I put some vinegar on it, it would actually bubble up. That kind of limestone.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't use this stuff in degu and gunea pig cages? It's pretty, and this kind is the flattest stones I can find, because it fractures well, so nature has already made these flat stones for me.

It should be great Just keep an eye on it if it's crumbly at all and if they take a fancy to chewing it.

I'd give it a go too!! I'd love to see what they look like once you have them in your cages!!

also figuring that come the warm summer months, can refrigerate/freeze a flat rock then put it in the cage for them to actually "chill out" on or near. Can have several in rotation between fridge and cage. I'm in the New England part of the USA, which means all those states east & north of New York (both city and state), that lumpy little northeastern part of the country, so whatever else we don't have, rocks we do, free and unlimited supply.
