Just found a cheap way of giving the degus some new ''baskets' to snuggle down in Half Hanging baskets, £2 at Asda! I have attached them with garden wire (metal) to the bars of the cage, and they love to snuggle down in the liners. I have two girls that fight, so they cannot snuggle together, which is a real shame, however they seem to approve of these: Now to get some for the boys and maybe I can find a bigger size, so I can do the same for the Chinchillas !

The shops are just starting to get gardening things back in stock You can sometimes find wicker hanging basket type things too that are good.

I can't imagine wicker baskets lasting 5 minutes in my cage at the moment

Too true, they don't last long, but if you come across them in aldi or Wilkinsons or even better the pound shop, they are pretty cheap.

Is the latex lining okay for goos? mine are very destructive! I took it out when I made mine and sowed some material over the top filled with stuffing so its soft!

You will need to take out the plastic lining (and carefully remove the staples holding it in place). The wire ones are good, because they come with a hemp liner to retain moisture. I hung up a big round one for my boys, but only two slept in it, and then Spidey removed all the bedding to his preferred sleeping pitch and the others followed. It now makes a great forage basket, and Spidey's preferred home for his tennis ball collection.
