Well, Finished renovating the cage, bit of a bodge job because i'm rubbish at DIY, but it doesn't look too bad, a lick of paint and some new mesh doors for the top and it should look a bit better. Here it is in it's original form: and here it is now (like i said bit of a bodge job so looks naff on the outside but the inside is what counts right???) What do you think? Be Honest lol. The place i bought the timber from cut the timber all wonky and the edges turned out a bit rough on the outside but the inside bits were fine.

I think it looks really cool. It only looks a bit weird because not all of it's painted. It looks like a totally different cage lol! I think the sides are definitely a plus! I wish we had just made ours! Well done! x

Thanks iamlina, I do think it needs a lick of paint to make it look a bit better but i'm just pleased i managed to get the glass front sorted. I've done it so the glass is tight (not too tight) and the only way to take the glass out is to feed it out from the side after taking one of the side pieces off.

I think its fab !!! I feel really guilty now as I have 3 babies and I thought they had a great cage until I read about and see how big and fantastic a home made cage can be. I think I will have to attempt to be creative and learn how to expand their home. Any ideas GREATLY received.

I think it look perfect, Mja! I love seeing that cage put to good purpose (as I always did admire it), and made to fit your needs is what makes it perfect. I totally understand feeling pleased that you got it to do what you wanted it to. Before making our new goo cage, I had never used a power tool in my life, so I seriously wondered if I was going to deeply regret my decision to build. But there was no turning back once I bought all the materials! LOL! Had to make it to save face, and prove it wasn't a waste of money.
