Today i found blood on the top shelf of our degu cage and noticed that hodge has lack of tail fur due to being bitten(well that's my best guess anyway)
Can't afford to take him to the vet until Thursday, he doesn't seem in any pain, what can i do? will it cause him any distress.
I take it this isn't normal behaviour for degus to make each others tails bleed.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks :]

I wouldn't go as strong with the salt as Smux. Making the water too strong an acid will cause burns to the wound and I would think that could make the wound a little worse. Moderate amounts of salt are better. 1/2 Tsp up to a full Tsp would be good I think.

I would also advice boiling the water first, adding the salt, then leaving it to cool down to a warm temperature. That way you kill off any bacteria, etc in the water before using it on your goos tail. Also always use a fresh batch of saline solution as, if left for a few days, bacteria will start to grow in it.
