Sorry to hear it =(
Your finger should be ok (especially if you are up to date with your shots etc) but keep an eye on it and keep it clean and if it doesn't go down in a couple days then see someone. Tis what I'd do anyways =)
As for Charlie, I'm not sure on that as I don't have any experience of it. Hope she comes round soon!

Your finger swelling up is normal. Mine doubled in size when Damon bit me right on the end of my index finger. It will go purple (maybe black) and should start to go down within a week. It might hurt for a lot longer. Are you up to date with your tetanus shots? (probably nothing to worry about, but always best to be sure).

I think you should be soaking your finger/hand in luke warm salt water every day, maybe twice a day. Since you are changing nappies on a regular basis, you really need to protect yourself from any kind of contamination entering your blood stream. It might be an idea to wear some kind of medical glove or something every time you change? I'm very sorry about the bite you've been given. I know myself that they are very painful, especially in certain places. I hope it will calm down and that you will soon have a normal feeling finger!

Hi i had a really bite about 3 months ago when i tried to stop my two boys killing each other. I ended up going to the doctors as it was so swollen. I had a tetnus jab as i apparently hadnt reached the lucky 5 which the full set and very strong antibiotics which the doc said you should have if you have had a bad bite. If it stays bad please get it checked out mine actually spread up my hand and i couldnt move 2 fingers thats how bad the bite was and the infection. Chilly was mortified he had savaged me by mistake and the scar hardly shows

The only reason I mention having a tetanus shot is because of the hay in the cage. The only way you can contract tentanus is if you're in contact with horse manure. I don't know what the likelyhood of hay being in contact with horse manure is, but both of them make me think of farms! lol. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but it's certainly a jab everyone should be having regardless of whether they've been bitten or not. Tentanus would be a nasty thing to contract.

ok, tetanus is the least of your worries, I ended up with blood poisoning. if your upper arm or under your armpit start to hurt or feel uncomforatble goto A&E (these are the lymph nodes which dispose of toxins - also present in groin area), explain what a Degu is several times and the doctor should treat it like a serious infection. i was given the strongest antibiotics they could provide. Also look out for black blood. Again goto A&E, if you see it you will know.

I'm not trying to turn this into a debate, but tenanus is very serious and I wouldn't say it's the leasts of anyones worries, lol If a person develops tetanus, they'd be in hospital for a good while. www.dhpe.org/infect/tetanus.htmlI'd just like to add that the chances of anyone contracting this or anything else from a degu bite is vary rare and I'm certainly not trying to worry anyone. Just trying to point out the importance of you jabs in any situation

Charlie sounds like her past has scarred her badly, and now is making scars on you. I'm so sorry it's been so much less than the joy it was initially!
