hi, i had never even heard of Degu's before a week ago when we saw two 8 month old males that needed adopting from pets at home and we couldn't help ourselves!! ;D they are adorable!! they are called Aldous and Huxley, we love them, they are very young and we are picking up some great tips from this wonderful site for taming them and making them as happy as can be, however, they are scratching themselves ... and now so are we!! cant see any fleas or mites but wondering what to do about this? the hay we bought was from the same store and we were advised by their staff this was the best for them........ please help if possible...very itchy x

well if needs be i will definately buy an air purifier, but what do i do about the Degu's scratching? is this a vet job or do i just let them settle and see how it goes? what is a healthy amount of scratching? dont want to be an over-protective Degu mum but really know very little about them....thanks x

ahhh, thank you soooo much, you have definately helped, thank goodness for Degu forum's or else i would be at a loss!! they dont scratch for long periods of time they just do it sporadically so think you are right. Will try the sieve before vets etc. - dont mind the extra time and will try all of the above, but thank you again !! : )
