It makes me feel better to know that someone else did it and that the lil ones (one) is/are surviving...It becomes tough and often I feel like it isnt going to make it but I have to try.. it seems to be doing well...still sleeps more the time and does not walk much..but it keeps its eyes open for longer periods of time and eats a decent amount..Im soo attached to it now I dont know what I would do without my little one =) Were the babies you handraised Donna full term or premature? Just wondering...Im not sure when the lil one will be able to eat solids..its teeth are comming in nice..The vet said to feed a bottle (milk) for a month then mush up solids and give it to the lil degu for a month along with the milk...So we will see how it goes!

Still alive...running around like crazy on the ground..still not strong enough to walk on the uneven (bedding) ground of the cage...eats ALOT!! Just a couple concerns now one of the front paws is swollen..I squeeze it slightly and it does not seem to be hurting it...The other concern I have one eye does not open. If I was the eye it will open its eye for a few mins and then is closes again! any tips suggestions!

I thought about you all weekend. Our babies(8) were born on Friday. My heart would be broken if what happened to you would have happened to me. You are so strong. God Bless. I hope your little one is still well. Laurie

Sadly he died two days after I posted that message....I have been to discouraged to come on...He was a month early and made it about a month so I really thought he was going to make it..All of a sudden he just stopped eating...One day running around find the next not even wanting to eat of move...and as for the calcium the vet told me the formula I was feeding had more then enough nutrents(sp?) in it so I don't know. Sorry it took so long to get back...I was devistated...I did all I could though and I could only hope for the best!

Alisha, I'm so sorry -- you did such a wonderful job trying to keep him alive, no one could have done better. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that you did everything you possibly could.
Take care,
Sarah

I was out of town for the weekend and finally got caught up with everything so I could start browsing. I am so sorry to hear your last baby didn't survive after all your hard work and love. It can be so discouraging but there are lots of Degus out there looking for a good home. Check PetFinders for your area. Again I am sorry for your loss.
