Congratulations!! Can you tell which of the females had the babies? How exciting for you!! Do let us know how many you have.
Oh, and maybe be sure to have some cardboard on hand that you can attach to the outsides of your cage. The babies are very quickly active and moving about the cage . . . day 3-4 . . . and they can just walk right through the bars on the cage. It is VERY scary to suddenly realize one or more is missing, or to narrowly avoid stepping on one, or sucking one up in the hoover.
Please post pictures! ;D

we have had another look and we think there is 6 and the mother is definately Honey,(the 1 that got fat).We have worked it out that she got pregnant here but a few days after we got them and working out when mojo was snipped candy has until just before new year so have to wait and see so excited and pleased all went well with birth and so far so good,we had some cardboard ready but chucked it when we thought wasnt pregnant.Getting some more in the morning, when would be right to attatch it?

I would put the cardboard on pretty much as soon as you have it. Sometimes there are some pups that are a little bolder and more adventurous than the others, and they get out and about sooner than is typical.

We have the cardboard on ,we had a few concerns as when Honey leaves them we have read that mojo is meant to go in but he leaves them unattended is this right? We had a little scare just we checked on them and found 1 wandering lost outside nest,we tried to attract there attention to it but they just ignored it so we scooped it up and put it back in the nest,is this ok ? Panic much lol

Scooping them up is no trouble at all. It is a help actually because the little one is unable to regulate his body temperature just yet. That won't kick in until he is a few weeks old. Go ahead and scoop them back in to the nest. By about day four, you won't need to hold back on holding them either, just jump in and start enjoying them!!

yesterday all of the babies came out of the nest for a run around and im not sure if its to do with the nest being a dust bath, but it was to high for them to return to the nest unaided and the 3 adult goos have made a new nest in the corner of the cage, under a shelf(nice a dark due to cardboard). It is a nice nest with some hay and paper from the nest as well as fresh hay. They have not returned to the the old nest at all since. The old nest stunk so we changed it out this morning and gave it a wash, refilled it with kitchen towel and hay but they seem to prefer the new nest and not interested in the old 1 at all..As the new nest is on the floor the babies can run away and run back to the nest without problems but the adults seem to be very protective and all seems well.Is this ok and normal?
Many thanks
Padi

Sounds normal to me, you are prob right that the original nest was too high for the babies so they made a new one. my lot have at least 2 nests in each cage lol.
Still waiting on photos tho Diane =)

OH!!! They are ADORABLE!! I love that you have posted pics of them, or at least one lol, climbing the cage. So totally sweet! As to extending the cardboard . . . I don't know what to suggest there. Our boys are never going to have babies, and I have no experience with this issue to help you out. There are many that have, though, and hopefully they can tell you what they did. At the moment, I'm thinking that if they are climbing . . . then at least put cardboard next to any other tiers where they can stand and crawl around? Shrug! Like I said, hopefully you will get some experienced 'degu pup chaser' advice on this one.

hate to put any fear in you....but speaking from experience.... those babies can EASILY fit thru any of those bars... anything that they can put their head thru? their bodies will fit just as easily. you need to transfer them into something else or once they get a little more mobile? they will be out of there in an instant.....
they are adorable lil things tho huh?? & they grow sooooo fast... =)

Hiya
we had an escape yesterday lol.We were out for a birthday meal and when we got back the parents were kicking of on the higher shelf and looking up,when we checked there was a baby on the outer top of cage,we think it climbed the side and just kept climbing through the roof.We have now took extra steps with more cardboard etc.So blooming scarey and so lucky we came back when we did.How long till they grow to big to escape lol. They are really adorable and 1 seems more adventurous than the rest

the cardboard is now removed and its great to see more of the little babies, they are adorable and mental lol, such a hectic cage with 8 in lol.I have read various bits all over the net about what age to seperate boy babies but as per normal with the net so many different variations from 5 weeks to 8 weeks, wandered what expereienced peeps did, what age is best to take boys out.We are probably keeping some if not all the females(havent sexed them yet lol)
