Now I know it's normal for her to do so to move them around, I'm not worried about that...but I let her out of the cage to get some free time while I watch the babies for her (and get her if they call), and she's taken to picking them up and trying to take them out of the cage with her. When she leaves the house with a baby in her mouth, I close the cage door and tell her no and she eventually takes the baby back into the house.
I'm wondering, is this her trying to tell me that the house isn't good enough? At the moment it's a cardboard box with toilet tissue on the floor and a t-shirt on top and around it to hold in the warmth (with the front uncovered so she can get in and out of the hole). The babies can freely get in and out of the house (and regularly do venture out but usually go back in unaided) so maybe I need to put a barrier at the door so they can't get out but she can get in and out freely when she wants to...any thoughts? As I write this, they're a little over a day old now.
While I'm writing this, thought I'd mention some of the cute stuff I've seen. One of them likes to nibble the sides of the box by the door, he (or she...I'll say he from now on until I know their genders :-)) doesn't get far of course but it's cute to see it. Also, I saw one of them roll over onto his back and right himself in one fluid movement (inside the house, it was by the door). I'm also pretty sure I've heard them chittering, it was only quiet and they do like to talk to each other (I can tell between talking to each other and calling mum now, so I don't bother Theresa too much :-)) but this wasn't the normal talking I heard.
