So as with my previous posts my degu count stands at a pregnant again Momma degu, and her 3 kids. Her partner Scooter had to be put down on the 20th.
I will be moving my pregger Babsy, into the tank she had the first three in as the babies would fall out of these bars in their cage.
My question is. Since Scooter isn't around to help her thru this would the kids step up. They are almost 3 months old and still growing fast. I'm honestly nervous for this pregnancy where the last one I knew they could handle it between the two of them.

I think that the babies might chip in now they're getting a bit older. If momma looks like she's struggling just help her out occasionally yourself too (such as ensure her babies don't keep escaping with their curious nature.) ;D

Glad to hear its not a bad idea to let the kiddos help she is due end of may. She starts showing about one month into it. Fingers crossed it all goes well. Right now the only help she wants is with uninterrupted nap time. So she's curled up with me in my hoodie.

A quick little update. I have Momma degu and her kids in the tank where she will give birth. She has a slight limp with her massive waddle but it doesn't slow her down. I only have the wheel in when she is out of the cage napping with me. Just to be sure she takes it easy. Momma has built her nest in a toy called "Elefun" instead of the box. She is also bossing the kids around on how to help her right now. I'm sure she misses Scooter knowing how to help. But kiddos are receptive to listening especially since we are getting closer. It does put me at ease a bit watching the kiddos pitch in a bit. And I will say my momma degu nap time always soothes my soul a bit. Especially when she just flips on her side zonked out on my shoulder.

She is an utter sweetheart. she has become needy for her out of cage naptimes & such. Which I cave to of course. Currently hour 2 in naptime right now.
I'm not sure if she's talking to me or her belly, but when she starts to curl up with me she starts talking a little bit. Is it common for a pregnant degu to talk to the ones in her belly?

Im not sure if its commen to talk to the ones in her belly but my pregnant degu, talks a lot when shes out having naps, she likes the place where my pillows meet in the middle of the bed always squidges herself inbetween all the pillows so all you can see is her lil head poking out, but she constantly makes lil noises during her drifting off to sleep :-) not sure if shes talking to me saying how nice and comfy the pillows feel or if shes talking to the ones in her belly? could be abit of both i spose :-)

Momma seems awake and alert. But I did find a bloody pale thing. It looks like an organ.... Please tell me its just placenta or something.....

It could be that one pup didn't fully develop and that is what you have found. Have you been able to get a good look at momma, though? Is she bleeding or trailing anything from behind her?
Congratulations on your pups. I look forward to hearing how many and cute!

I enticed momma out but it was only a split second before she ran back in. It just looked like she had some bedding on her butt. She's very more aware than scooter was. I'm not seeing any blood trail. Just spots here and there. She did bleed a little last time.

Dust bath got her out. She seems happy to be thinner... I'm feeling less panicked.

I've been googling what it might be. Deguptopia does have a bit about what placentas look like if passed. So I'm thinking that's it. Or praying lol. Baby(s) sound health and Momma has begged for a treat and happy to have access to her bath. She prompted goes running when baby calls. She does look a lil messy. So I think this happened right before I got home. I guess as long as everyone is happy and healthy I guess I'm happy. And No more pregnancies! This is my last.

One poked its head out when mom was trying to clean house (it would prolly take me washing the thing which I don't think I should day one ) and the face is so small and precious. I'm excited
