I have a three week old orphan degu pup that im hand raising. Ive had him since a day old and hes doing great. Im just wondering what all my options are to offer him to get him off the milk. He loves oats and with eat some hay but really isnt interested in pellets. Can I offer him any veggies?

I agree with Smux. How often do you feed him milk each day? I think that when mumma goos are weaning, they just start to refuse the pups a nursing every once in a while, and gradually the times between nursings gets greater and greater until they are no longer taking milk at all.

Hes getting milk about every 3 hours now. he would eat oats all day if id let him but there too high in carbs to let him have that much. the ony thing im worried about is that if i refuse him the milk he'll get dehydrated really quick cuz he wont drink water yet either

I dont have other degus just him so im trying to adapt as best I can.
