One of Bert's front top teeth has started to turn white. Is this normal? He does ping the cage pretty much constantly. I'm in the process of building a bigger, bar-free cage for them as I live in a flat and can hear it all day and night (and it's winding me up and keeping me awake!)- They do have a good few hours out with me each day when I'm not at uni but he still pings when he has been put back in. Could this be the cause? Also any tips for stopping "pinging" for the time being His buddy Ernie's teeth are a healthy colour and he never pings or chews the bars. Such a good degu.... Regards, Adam

oh and regarding the pinging, they have a big metal wheel each, all the toys and lots of freedom etc so I don't think it's a boredom thing. The crafty bugger did use to be able to open the cage though.....

nah the pinging i've experienced is for attention. no matter ho much you give them.
He has probably just scraped it off i wouldnt worry too much. just keep an eye on it and i'm sure it will return to normal soon. most likely by tomorrow in my experience.

Many thanks. I was getting worried because I had a quick search and the first thing I read was "white teeth means imminent death!" but I'm sure it wasn't that bad!
