Might not be a cataract. They tend to make the eye look cloudy, or have a bluish tinge (well they did in our dear departed dog anyway). Fingers crossed. xxx

As far as I know, an eye turning white is either a fungal infection or diabetes, if thats what you mean by see through. I've had a nose at past threads as I remembered someone pasting a while back something similar and this was a response by Ra: 'Her eye turning white is not normal. If she appears to be able to see something with that eye I would guess a cataract. Does her eye look white beneath the cornea? If it appears to have something white on top of the cornea it could be fungal if it looks white and there is a divit in her cornea it could be an ulceration of some kind. Does her eye weep at all?' deguworld.proboards31.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=health&thread=1195658271&page=1Its only a short post, I don't know if it is helpful at all.

you can only see it when there is a bright light on in thr room, anyother time it appears normal. its not weeping or anything and it doesn't seem to bother her.

Ive had degus which cateracts but no diabetes Kerry. The vet said it was due to genetics (poor breeding). They degus that had them were brothers. they also had dental troubles due to poor breeding.

I was gonna suggest it could be genetic! If you got her from a "breeder" then it could just be poor breeding. You're not a bad mummy at all *hugs* a bad mummy wouldn't care and you care lots & lots about her it's obvious! Finger crossed for what the vet says (yn) .x.x.x.
