My cage is currently divided up as I'm trying to introduce two new goos - Martha and Matilda - to my two original girls, Ethel and May. I came home from work today to find that Matilda had managed to get around the divide and was in the same side as Ethel and May. I can only begin to imagine what's gone on but May is now limping and hardly putting any weight on her foot. It looks very swollen and I think her middle toe is broken as it seems to be stiking up above the rest of her toes and worryingly when I touched it, it was obvious that it would bend right back on itself if I tried. What the heck do I do now? Should I take her to the vets and get it all checked out? I feel miserable at the thought that I'm to blame for her injury by dividing the cage up and trying to introduce the new goos in the first place. I feel so sorry for May. She's so sweet and has been making real progress with trusting me and now I feel I've just let her down. Lanie x

Similar happened to me, ish, with my rats. Vet recommended dipping a facecloth or something similar in iced water and placing this on the foot for 5-10 seconds to reduce swelling then leave for a minute or so before repeating but ONLY if ted (the rat) allowed it. After 2 days he was back to using his foot. I know it's not technically the same but I remember how guilty I felt and just wanted to do anything to help! Hope she's ok.
