I wish I could help you. I really do, but what I think you need to do is take her to a vet ASAP. Is there an emergency vet anywhere near you? Such as the PDSA? They see animals late at night. Don't worry about the money too much. They normally let you clear the bill when you can afterwards, aslong as you leave your contact details.
A few important things....
How long has this been going on? Is the fur loss a gradual thing? Say weeks or months? Or has it just started happening tonight? I don't know if the drooling may have been caused by a stroke, perhaps? leaving her not being able to close her mounth/use her mouth? Is she eating/drinking? Is she walking ok? The fur loss could be down to constant drooling if this has been an ongoing problem.
Have you checked her teeth? Are they normal size or do they look overgrown, therefor making it unomfortable for her to close her mouth?
A vet is the best thing for her right now. I don't think anyone can be sure of what's wrong without seeing her or without more information.
I'm so sorry and I wish you best.

Amie is giving good advice, and I too think you should look into a vet. She could be suffering with molar over growth which does cause a lot of drooling, pain, and given a little time (a matter of days not weeks) weightloss as a result of the degu no longer being able to chew it's food, and so being unable to eat. It can be a very critical condition, but one that can be helped. This isn't something you can treat on your own, unless you are a veterinarian by training. Which would be great for you and your girlie!

This isn't something you can treat on your own, unless you are a veterinarian by training. Kinda what I said in my post, yet "Amie is giving good advice"? Just because I may have been a bit short in my reply (considering the original post and the fact that I used more words and info than the OP, I wouldn't even call my post short) doesn't mean my post can be ignored :-P Also quoted: "Yesterday at 5:00pm, kieron wrote:my degu rouge is drooling a lot and looseing the fur around her face HELP PLEASE Have you heard of these things called "vets"? It may not sound like useful advice, but any advice we give about what you describe is going to result in the words "take her to the vets" in the end as it is likely there is nothing you can personally do without professional help from a trained vet " You are quite correct, Smux, you do recommend a vet, and I am sorry I did not also acknowledge your advice for the same action. I will ask you however to take note of the words you chose vs the words Amie chose. She is offering different professional options for help that may be used to accomplish better health for the degu in question. You open your advice with a question posed in such a way that it verges on insulting. I was kind of hoping you would detect how differently your post could come across to the reader than Amie's post does. I believe it is your desire to be of help and encouragement to other forum members, and I just want to remind you to give your advice kindly. It is a completely normal and frequent occurance on this forum, that members both old and new will come to the forum with the desire for advice before seeking their vet. We all know that, generally speaking, many of us know a heck of a lot more about degus, than our vets do. There is comfort in hearing from people who know degus, and have experience with them. It helps us all to know if we are moving in the right direction, or if a change of course needs to be made.

Smux, what you said is exactly what I wanted to say (in a round about way). However, I wanted to word what I said a little more delicately than what you did in order to not put the new member off the forum by attacking them (I'm not saying you attacked them either. I'm saying it could be read that way). This forum could be of GREAT use to any degu owner, and more importantly (which I think you'll agree) their degus. Putting someone off using any forum is easily done and the only ones who could possibly suffer in the end are the degus. This site holds a lot of information that could greatly enrich a degus life and I want people to continue using it. I was therefor, not polite for the sake of Kieron, but for the sake of his degu. However obvious the answer is to us, it may not be to someone else. For whatever reason. Do you understand the angle I'm coming from? Saying all that, I'd just like say that I greatly appreciate the adice you give as it's very useful! You've helped me with my degus many times. I would have been lost without this site (and probably still would be! lol). I just felt I needed to clarify WHY I said what I said and the way I said it

Glad Rouge got sorted out Did the vet give you any further advice about Rouge? about the possibility of it being an ongoing problem if the back teeth were overgrown? If it was an issue with overgrown back teeth you need to really encourage hay eating.

yes she did say it was over grown teeth ive got to keep a close eye on her the only trouble is she is not sure what to do if they come back very quickly she does not want to keep putting her to sleep. i will encourage hay eating im off for a fortnight after tomorrow so plenty of time to spend with her.
