Put them in your oven on a low-medium heat and just forget them there for a few hours. That will dry them out really well and kill off any unwanted guests.

I'm sure they'll love it amie! I've given my two the straight willow sticks, they love pulling them around the cage and gnawing them to bits. I don't give them loads tho as I'm still unsure of willow in quantities. I pinched some thick apple twigs from my dads tree and they seemed to go mad for it. I scrubbed them then dried them in the oven as dc suggested. :-)

SO glad they loved them. It's so cool to see them go nuts over them, isn't it? Makes me wonder what they taste like to a degu . . . but I suspect that is something science will never be able to discover, LOL!

Did you dry the willow sticks BBs? I've just bought a pack from the shop and I'm not sure if they need drying or not? I think I might stick them in the oven for an hour anyway just to be safe.

I just received some apple sticks they are so fresh they still have moisture in them. I have noticed that one packet has mold due to the moisture so I'm just going to pop them in the oven. The girls must be able to smell them they have been going cray since i opened up the packets. Can't wait to see them go mad when they get to chew them xx

Lol well their apple stick's went from top of cage to bottom to middle back to the bottom. They just kept dragging these where they went today lol. So cute it was like a dog dragging a tree branch along with it lol. My house smells like apple cider due to them. I really bought too many packets lol Was scared I wouldn't find them again at such a great price so bought the 5 the girl was selling on eBay. I'm glad the girls are happy but yukk I hate the smell of cider I feel seedy xx what I do for me girls xx

Similar reaction from my boys really! They were awfully happy with the apple and willow sticks. Elijah's reaction was somewhat more exteme though. I wasn't even allowed to look at him while he was eating it.... I think he must have thought I wanted to steal it off him! lol.

ROTFL @ Amie!!! Clearly he sees you as a fellow degu. I suspect you are totally right, and he was suspicious of your intentions for his sticks. "Not pinching my sticks, no sir!!!" To funny! Gotta love our goos!

It's quite odd. Willow loves her apple branches, where as Buffy loves hawthorn. They will gnaw on the other, but they both have a clear preference.
