My three degus of nearly 5 months old are drinking 100ml of water a day, which works out at double what degutopia says they should drink. Should I be worried or do you think this falls in the normal range?

Do you feed them any food/treats that could be making them drink more?

Do you use a standard roller ball bottle like those advertised for hamsters / rabbits etc?
If yes, how much is dripping out rather than being drunk? It might not be the goos drinking 100ml, it might be leaking.
If no then please ignore this post =)

I don't think I feed them anything that would especially make them thirsty, they don't get anything salty, and everything else is standard degu stuff. They don't get much moist food though, they aren't keen on fresh veg, so they aren't getting much moisture through food.
The water bottle is a Superpet glass one, I don't think it is dripping.
How much do your guys drink?

my boys have two water bottles that i refill everyday, one holds 140 mls and the other holds 250 mls and every day its half empty so like yours mine are drinking atleast 100 mls a day possibly 150 and have done ever since ive had them... plus, the bottle definitely is not leaking!! i guess it could be something due to the heat, in our front room the log fire burns constantly through out the day so this may be the reason but to be honest... im not worried by this as they both seem healthy running about chewing on anything and everything plus they run in their wheel all the time. i also have a hamster that also drinks alot, i think its his favorite pastime...lol

I have no idea how much our boys drink, but I am often surprised to see how much is gone so quickly. However . . . it is always about the same amount . . . so you'd think I wouldn't be surprised anymore. LOL! Anyway, unless it is a marked difference from anything you've noticed or known about them before, I really wouldn't worry about it.

the amount has just gradually risen as they have grown. I've diabetes tested 4 random wees done on the tile floor in the play area and all were negative, so i'm not too worried about that now. I'm trying to keep an eye out to see if they all drink about the same or one drinks more than the others, but I still can't tell Alice & Molly apart very well.

Our two bottles go down by about 150ml a day but they drip a fair bit and there's 4 of them so I reckon they're actually drinking about 25ml each...
