That's AWESOME! Well done! What are the dimensions? Love the work you put into that. Looks like you thoroughly thought out the ease of cleaning aspect of the cage. Very nice! Your degus look so happy in there!

What is the length and depth of each level? I'm curious to know that the surface space amount is, as well as the overall internal space.

Each level is 40cm depth and 81cm width..and there are 3 floors... I plan on adding more levels in the talest room (70cm in height).. to create even more space to walk on.. Right now they just have 2 temporary ones(levels).. i want to make bigger ones....so it can almost count has a secound floor in that room.. it costed me quite a bit building this...but it is still cheaper then buying a critternation cage ( where i live..they cost twice the price that i spend on bulding this ) ..xD We spend total: 4500 NOK / 486,22 EUR / 542,84 USD / 705.15 CAD to build the cage..(Note: Norway is very expensive..so the prices is much higher than what it would cost in another country)

OUCH!! That is quite a chunk of money alright! You have made a huge effort for their comfort and well being. I'm sure it has been very challenging and perhaps even painful.
If you are able to fashion another level that would be like a second full floor in the larger room, that would certainly add additional space that would be lovely for your degus, and that room is large enough to accommodate it. Maybe just wait a month or two, so you are not putting strain on your finances?

i have also made a huge playpen which i connect to the cage, so they can walk/run out and run there has they please...it cover half the living room..so i only have it up for a few hours (4-5hr) a day... Next month we will be moving into a new appartment ( bigger + one more extra bed room).. and there i will do one of the bed rooms..into degu-zone.. so they can run lose ..whenever they want and can go back to the cage at any given time...when we're in the room ofc... so they get a lot of time outside the cage.. ^_^ The playpen i made is all made of cardboard -> that's why it's so long and over 1m tall.. but they never bother to gnaw or try to escape...they love that they can always have access to the cage..and will often run back in for water/food..

Looking pretty good!! Well done! If I were to recommend anything . . . it would be to examine that opening between the two panels on the front left"ish" side. It could be wide enough to allow escape, or it could be an opportunity to chew and make the opening larger (if they can reach it . . . and they will try.)

It’s a bend in the metal wire frame ... annoying, but thankfully not something they can chew through! When we straighten the pen out as well the bend pretty much disappears

It seems to be linking back to this page, not where you have the photo. Perhaps try re-entering it, making sure you are putting the photo link in, not this page's?

WOW!! I hope you have reinforced all those wooden edges with metal strip? They will chew their way out in no time if allowed. I had a large wooden cage, and I loved it, as did my degus, but I had to go back in a few times to reinforce the areas where they found a means to chew holes through.
Have you put in lots of ventilation on the sides, especially where you have all the glass?

I’m getting metal strips soon, and there are lots of air holes in the ceiling and down one side, plus gaps around the doors. The bottom half has all mesh panels at the front

Looks great Thank you 😊 The plastic wheel is temporary. I can’t quite fit a second tictac wheel up there so I’ll be getting a wooden wheel or a metal running plate soon!

ibb.co/gT6WvXKI made a cage and I'm getting my first degus tomorrow. Would appreciate any thought or tips on the cage! its 150x50x100 and 3 levels but I'm not sure what to add to make it more interesting for them!

That looks fantastic! My only comments about the build are that it might be a good idea to put a couple of vents in the roof for extra ventilation and I take it the top level lights will be covered with mesh too? I think a wooden hut would be nice for a nest. It's a good idea when you are starting off to put several sizes of cardboard box in the cage, they are fun to chew and play with but a bigger, thicker one (ones that have held 12(?) packs of cans or bottles can be good is good for a nest. Plant pots can be good too lying on their side. Throw in some kitchen or loo paper for a nest.
