Donna donated something Degu food through her work collection for the cat and dog shelter, and I've convinced her to let Me put the cage up and make more shelves for it once the Christmas decorations are down so hopefully I’ll be able to get they big group in to a suitable home. .

That is exciting and such good news! Did your heart do a happy jig when she agreed?

It did. I’m going to have to put in a fair bit of work to make the cage have a big enough floor space for them but it will be worth it.

Went for a visit on Monday night and the group have been split up, looks like there were some dominance issues as there are missing toes and degloved tails. We were looking to take on a big group but are now considering two pairs of older girls although one of them looks a bit chunky, possibly pregnant... Some of them have already been claimed so it’s good that they are going to new homes at least. .

That's too bad!! I wonder if they were in a cage that was too small for their numbers, and that's why they fell out? Are the two pairs you are looking at, unfamiliar with each other? If so . . . will you try introducing them, or just keep them as neighbors?

I think the cage was too small, they are pretty small for them to be in there for such a long time. I would consider introductions as they were part of the same group and will still be near to each other at the shelter but there look to be a lot of injuries which might just cause bad blood that can’t be reconciled. It’s a real shame but it’s 100% the right thing that the shelter have done for the welfare of the individual animals.
