My degu snowball breathing sounds clicky windy, she only seems to do it when I go close to listen(so she's smelling my ear etc) she's eating and drinking fine, no discharge, another thing she always grind her teeth after drinking.

Dixie grinds his teeth after drinking too, almost as if he's washing the water around them.
Keep an eye on her breathing, it could just be louder because she's by your ear. Mine have been sneezing a little because of cage cleaning and me having the windows open to cool the place down in the heat.

Do you notice it at any particular time, like during or right after a cleanout when there is dust around, or when she is eating hay? Can you watch the sides of her body and see if she is breathing more heavily or rapidly than the others?

I'm not really sure what to suggest, DL. If it's been going on for a while and hasn't deteriorated then it's probably nothing too serious, and since she isn't breathing more rapidly or more deeply than the others this is a good sign. But we do need to be a bit cautious about breathing issues. If she is worse around cleanout time then it might be worth switching from shavings to a different substrate (I think you use shavings?).

My degus all have issues with wood shavings as beddings. Tried it once in all of their cages and all of them were constantly sneezing and looking miserable. Maybe switch like moletteuk has recommended!

I haven't tried any cardboard ones. I use hemp chips called aubiose that I buy locally from a farm supply type place, and I mix it with Fitch that is a paper based one that is mail order.

degulover21 I've used finacard and I didn't like it. Makes such a mess when it's been urinated on. I personally wouldn't recommend it. Maybe try hemp chips or hemp flooring?

I don't know, but there was a detailed discussion of the sizes of these if anyone else knows where that is? It was about 3 months ago and Emily was involved if you want to have a look for it.
