I thought this post title was a term of endearment π¬ I do have a friend who everyone calls Poo - friends and family alike! Some aren't even sure of her real name!

I think of the smelly cat song from Friends when I see 'smelly poo'.

I thought my brother had infiltrated the forum from when we were 6! Him - "Smelly poo" Me -"poohead" Him - "I'm telling muuuum" lol
I have no idea about causes, you're all much better qualified than me to guess. I do have a couple of ideas that may help though. First - Moor's liquid. Zooplus has a small bottle for about Β£7, will last you years! If he doesn't want to eat it of a spoon, you can put it in food or water. It's great for gut flora & digestion, is 100% natural mud (scientific term!) & definitely won't make it worse. The science on the zooplus page will explain better how it works. I use it a lot, recommend highly for all species. The other thing I've used is a mix I got from ratrations. If I remember rightly it had oats & raspberry leaves (& maybe some other stuff) in it, think it's more an appetite stimulant, but it helped BB get eating & his guts right when we first got him. I recall them having several mixes that had digestive benefits described with them. You could maybe get the forage part of the ingredients, like say raspberry leaves, a healthy way to help that you can feed ad lib would work better than something given occasionally as a treat I would guess.
You haven't changed forage, hay, foods or treats lately have you? Or have seeds that are old & spoiled? Wouldn't imagine you do, or haven't thought of that, but maybe something has gone off or something. Don't know, just throwing ideas out? Maybe something in the cage they've been gnawing on? Just did a quick google (my browsing history is extremely strange) & in humans, some of the main causes of smelly poos (foul faeces - technical term!) in humans is malabsorption & intestinal infection. Maybe try the moor liquid as it apparently helps both those things, but keep a close eye out for any other signs of infection. Is it possible for some sort of vet test on the poop do you think? Might detect bacteria levels or something.

Thanks random. I'll give things some more thought, I'm going to wait and see if the rosemary removal makes a difference. I had a bit of a sort through the seeds a while back, so I don't think that is a problem, although there may still be a few old safflowers in the box, I'll check, good idea. I might try the moor liquid, is this the right one? www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/snacks_supplements/vitamins/13178 To be honest it sounds just the sort of thing I should try on myself for my dodgy guts lol! She still seems a bit more tired than usual, she spent a bit more time sitting under the UV light last night when she would normally be pottering about. I'm going to try her on a bit of metacam, I think she has arthritis anyway, she has never responded to it before, but there's not much harm in trying again. She just looks kinda old

That's the one, but luposan on the same page is the same thing, but you can get it in a smaller tub (150g for Β£8.99) People do drink & bath in moor liquid.. not sure if this is a different recipe? Mmmmmm Mud flavour I agree to try one thing at a time, or you'll never know what worked (uh oh I found the new emojis )

It's kind of bittersweet when they show signs of old age. Nothing better than an oap animal friend, & it's always good to live long enough to get old.. but it's a little sad too. Extra cuddles for the oldies I say, makes everyone feel better.

Yeah, I think this is really about me railing against her getting old, rather than there really being much I can do for her, I really just want Flossie to live forever. She's the boss of the whole house, how would we manage without her?
Nope, I can't find lupusan for Β£8.99 can you send me the link please?

Thanks.
You should see me sniffing them in my frustrated hay feveryness with about 10% smell function. It's a sight to behold. The goos are getting a bit suspicious too, they want to know what I am doing with their 'property'.

I have little to no important or constructive things to say.
I can just imagine your goos going "PUT THAT THING BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM OR SO HELP ME!!" From Monsters Inc πππ
