He looks like he's been held hostage, and the kidnapper has sent his finger off with a ransom note in the post 😩

What a little cutie!
Out of curiosity, why were they so against trying him with Garf? Other than the injuries so far off course!

That's the sole reason I think, because of the injuries they saw today. They don't know much else to be honest, they have just seen injuries and it's a vets constitution to want to prevent them I suppose. I will of course carry on letting them meet when Tibbs tail heals but only when I'm there. These injuries only really happen when Tibbs has got over to Garf when I wasn't there. And that last time they were on a wheel together briefly! I have just seen too many positive signs to give up on them.

Please don't give up! Just keep reinforcing your alpha degu status so they stop trying to show off in front of you!

Good morning guys. Just thought I'd pop in and let you know how Tibbs vet appt. went yesterday! Well good news is that he's put on weight since last time - he's now 275g! He was 246g 6 months ago, so I'm pleased that he's eating well and has a healthy appetite . Nadine looked at his front hillbilly tooth and agreed that it has indeed 'thickened' - she said this is common in rodents but rarely seen in Degu - it's aptly called 'giant tooth' lol. I said it's not going to grow any larger is it??! And she said most likely not.. She talked about removing it but that the incisor roots are just very long and it's a tricky op, it may possibly fall out itself so we decided not to go down that 'root' 😂 His teeth length is good, somehow he does manage to keep them all down to a nice length so she's happy that he is managing things. She then took out that long microscope thingy-majig and looked into the back of his mouth - ohhh he didn't like that ahhaha but was still surprisingly compliant. She had a good old look for about 5 minutes. Nadine said it doesn't look bad at all as far as she can see right now with that tool, but that there was something on the right that could be food debris; she said just to be safe, (and as it's been 6 months since last check) that we should book him in next week to put him under, and have a good look and burr if needed. But apart from all that, he's doing quite well! She gave me a fresh bottle of loxicom as he had a swollen lip from a fight with Garf the other day 🙄 but I haven't been having to give him any loxicom in a long while, he doesn't get a weepy, squinty eye anymore which I would use as an indicator of tooth pain, oh and his lumpy jaw doesn't feel much lumpier than it did before, so things have slowed down thank god. Anyway It's not a perfect bill of dental health but I'm pleased it's not as bad as it was 6 months ago! P.s she quoted £170 this time round, considerable cheaper than last time sans x-rays.

Yay glad the tooth mystery has been solved!!!
I'm glad he's gained weight!
Hopefully nothing will need burring and all will be well!

It's good he's filling out, and you're obviously drilling him back to health. All you need is that bridge between him and Garf to crown the success!
