We got home from seeing my mum and Mater was flopped on the floor. We treated the girls and young boys but when we went to the old boys cage, Buddy came over expecting a treat, but Mater didn't move. We treated Buddy and called to him, but got no reaction so hubby sort of scooped Mater up and popped him on my lap. He just laid there and looked at me for several minutes before he got up and had a mooch round me. He took a treat, returned to the cage and we have seen him eat, drink and take a walk in the wheel since. He seems fine now, and I'll book him in for a once over with the vet tomorrow, but I'm still confused as to what actually happened. Could this have been a fit of some sort, or maybe the heat/humidity getting to him?

Your heart must have been in your mouth!
Were his eyes open during his non movement? It could have been a minor seizure, or it couldn't be that he was just kipping and was slow to wake up. Glad he's resumed normal (for a goo) activity, but I'd be really curious to hear what the vet says!

If he seemed lethargic maybe it was heat related. Do you have a thermometer in their room? Do you know roughly what temp it was in there?

I honestly don't know. Was he in a weird place, or a regular hangout place?

Well, back from the vet. He couldn't find anything wrong with him. He said it could have been a type of seizure, but he also suggested that maybe he was just in a really deep sleep. We're to take him back if it happens again but he said there's very little they can do if it is seizures. He was just laying on the middle floor, looking totally limp. I hope he was just really chilled out, it's kind of nice to think he feels safe enough to sleep like that in the open but it really freaked us out.

Glad it doesn't appear to be anything sinister!

Yes, glad he checks out okay.
Only time I have found a goo lying like that (and they weren't dying) was when they were suffering a bout of bloat. This doesn't usually resolve itself that quickly though.
