I've noticed that whenever Frankie sits still, he keeps his right paw off the ground. I'm a little concerned as I accidentally jammed that paw in the cage door a few days ago. He can run, leap, play, climb, and hold things just fine, it's only when he sits still that he does it. Should I be concerned?

It's worth keeping an eye on - degus hide pain well!
A few questions.....does he limp or favour the limb when he's doing his other activities? Are we talking front or back leg? Is there any obvious swelling, or does the limb feel warm or swollen? The last bit often makes more sense if you feel along both sides at the same time, so you have a comparison.

It's his front right paw. He won't let me touch his legs but it doesn't look swollen at all. He's not limping and he has no issues putting any weight on it. It might just be a thing he does, but I'll keep an eye on it for sure.

It could just be the way he sits, it's quite a classic degu pose if they are just sitting for a shortish while to balance with one 'hand' and hold the other one to their chest.

That perfectly describes what he's doing. I guess there's nothing to worry about.

Yep mine do that too, particularly Sillygoo - he even alternates paws whilst he's talking to me.

Mine does that all the time and I've worried before but she's done it for over 6 months and does alternate them! Check them and make sure if it's only his right as I'm sure he does both and it's just comfy
