I have chronic issues from a car accident . . . WOW . . . 28 years ago! My back flares and calms, but always makes itself known each day. Cutting vegetables . . . oof! . . . that is painful! Something about the position I am sure, but it gets me every time. I hope it isn't something else, and nothing alarming.

You have my sympathy! Backs are a pain (pun intended), but we soldier on!

Fellow back sufferer here! Fell down a flight of stairs over a year ago now and caused all sorts of problems with my lower back.
Now I walk with a stick and have to plan tasks around ones I can do sitting down and ones I can do standing up.

I'm also in the back sufferer's club although mine is justo credibly weak muscles and hyperextension. Don't think there are many things worse than back pain. I've decided to pay for private physio this week after having an ache for the last 2 weeks. Hope Scaredy is okay bouncy, poor little man

I got the biggest bit of dandelion root for him tonight, but he wouldn't play ball, so it was time for a degu burrito! Ironically, once the medicine went in, he continued lying on his back whilst I tickled under his chin. I let him go, gave him his prize, and he proudly tottered off with it in his mouth.............until Sillygoo nicked it. He just stood there in shock, so had to find another.
I did notice him sit back on his haunches when he met Spidergoo, and he kept trying to lift his left leg off the floor. That's an indication of pelvic issues to me, which would also explain his reluctance to jump. I also saw his attempts at getting out of the dust bowl today. There's no power there, and he couldn't clear his front paws.

You know, pain like that would certainly explain a lot of his interactions with Sillygoo and Spidergoo. Or perhaps another way to say it is, his avoidance of interactions with them.

He and Spidey box at some stage every evening, which might just take it out of him.
Fright of my life this morning doing roll call - I found Spidey and Sillygoo, then saw this lifeless brown shape in a pile of carefresh in the basement. I was about to rip the panels off, when Scaredygoo walked out from behind his planter! That stuffed cow of Spidergoo's has a lot to answer for!!

ROFL!! OH NO . . . that would have been the worst! The relief must have been HUGE! Were you able to laugh after?

It was massive! I was even tapping on the perspex to see if I could wake him up! And yes, there was a laugh. Scaredy is getting good at hiding. I moved his slipper bed last night when the others were still running around, only for his head to appear from within with an angry squeak!

Went for our follow up at the goo doc today, different vet this time, but more aware of goos. She's very worried about the Metacam not having made any difference to his movements during the week, so he's going back in for the day tomorrow, so he can be sedated for xrays and further examination.

Not yet. The vet called to say he's come round with no ill effects, but will go over everything with me when I collect him just before 4pm. He's certainly not bothered by being in the car now - carries on doing his thing, and tries to see out of the window! Heated seat might help

Okay, we're home.
Had a good chat with Gemma the goo doc. She agrees the initial weight loss (40g) is likely due to the stress of Spidey going hormonally mental (and he's still a healthy 260g). We then talked through his recent behaviour. The xrays look like there's a hairline fracture just above the hip socket on the left side. It's so small, though, that it's been sent to the referral centre for confirmation.
The weirdest thing is, he's never limped, never stopped troughing, and hasn't taken any break from wheel running! He doesn't try to jump like Spidergoo (prefers to be safe and cautious like his name suggests), and couldn't have fallen more than 30cm from anywhere. Having said that, it's not how far you fall, but how you land! We've got to sit tight and wait for the referral centre, which could take a week, to confirm and then discuss long term. In the meantime, Metacam!
When I walked in, she said he was being grumpy and not speaking to her or eating. I opened the carrier, put my hand in to move the hay and said hi. He immediately came out from the hay, stayed out in the open, then started stuffing his face, and continued for the 20 mins drive home! I also pointed out the amount of food in his belly on the xray. Think he might have missed his mummy!

I think it is absolutely lovely that he started eating as soon as he saw your hand! What a love!!

I know! He was so still in there, I was worried! That's why I put my hand in. If it is confirmed, I'm at a loss as to why I didn't notice! He didn't limp, and it's only in the last couple of weeks that he's stopped bathing, so I hope he's not been suffering too long. On a plus, it's a very clean line, with no displacement, so should heal just fine

Aaaaaaaaand now the referral centre says there isn't a break! They did admit to not known goos, so are forwarding the case history to a goo specialist.

Good that he trusts you so much! My goos are too stressed at the vets to think about food from any hand.
Let's hope the specialist can make something of the xrays.
