Sounds like he is hopefully tucked in to stay. Unless he is forming a bit of an addiction to the "extra attention" he's been getting from you and your husband.

(Just adding to my "Makoto" thread – mainly for my own reference.)
Last night, when we were giving Jin her meds, my husband decided to take Makoto out for a cuddle and a few sunflower seeds. Next thing you know, blood is dripping all over his hands. We weren't sure if it was my husband's (Mark's) or Makoto's until we noticed a big gash in Makoto's right heel. I happened to have recently bought some Styptic Powder – it was all dried up in block (even though it was supposedly "brand new") – so we cleansed Makoto's foot and then Mark scraped off some of the powder block and applied it.
There was an awful lot of blood around the cage; fortunately the powder got the "dripping" down to just a few spots here and there. Got up at around 4:30 am to check on the little fella, and he was fine. No more blood in the morning either. Thank goodness!!!

Wow! Where did the gash come from??

YIKES!!! What a scare!! Glad you had the stuff, even though you had to "powder" it yourselves!

How frightening and strange! I don't suppose you really know what even happened?

I think he may have cut his heel on one his wheels. He has a sturdy metal flying saucer wheel and one of those cheapie wire mesh ones (I was afraid of him falling off the flying saucer one). The wire mesh one is now in the trash.

I don't suppose it's practical to make a safety barrier around a flying saucer. Still, I'm sure Makoto wouldn't do anything to deliberately harm himself

I have placed one of those flexible log huts under the flying saucer wheel to make it easier for him to climb up to and off of it. Other than that, he has no problem with it – hasn't fallen off yet as far as I have seen. Today I let him and Roku have play time with each other. They are always so happy to see each other – right away groom each other and Makoto was okay with Roku peeing on him (twice – yuck!) and mounting him a bit. I even let the two of them have the run of the degu room. Other than running around in circles a lot, Makoto seemed to be able to navigate the area. They did end up going back each into their own cages.

Makoto now has a prolapsed tear gland in his "good" eye. Took him twice to the vet last week – nothing they can do for him. It seems to come and go but has been prolapsed all day today. Poor guy, he's practically blind now.

I'm so sorry Yasmin, and poor little Makoto. Does the prolapse mean his eye is especially wet or dry?

I'm sorry to hear this, it's not something I have heard of before.

I think it means it is dry. The vets did not advise me to put any lubricating eye gel on it but I think I should. This morning the eye is totally closed.
Just read up a bit on it – it is referred to as "Cherry Eye".

If the eye is dry, my immediate thought is that he could benefit from some moisture, which might help the duct settle. Rather than a gel, how about something saline based like optrex, either as drops or their mist spray?

– Just adding this comment to this thread to keep track of Makoto's issues –
Makoto's heel began to bleed profusely again on Saturday. Had to put styptic powder on it to stop the profuse bleeding. It seems to have worked. Concerned because the bleeding seems to happen after or around us picking him up to give him his meds. (He's getting steroid eye drops right now for what looks like a prolapsed lacrimal/tear gland. See other thread re: Cherry Eye)

It might be worth asking the vet whether there are possible side effects related to high goo blood pressure, or similarities to warfrin? At least you can be prepared..... x
