Beginning to think you will end up with a fifth degu at some point and name it Pink Panther. Maybe a sixth, Inspector Clueso (Spelling???). They would fit in well with your group of personality rich goos. LOL!!

LOL I hope it goes better for you tonight! What do you saw perspex with? I tend to use either a general purpose saw, or hack saw, depending on the size of cut, leaving the film on, and a good amount of masking tape along the cut.

Ok, progress update.........
Finally got the new tray in, with a little persuasion from a hammer. The new space went down very well with the only one who made it down there (Spidergoo). In fact, whilst Squidgygoo was having a run, he showed me a couple of flaws, due to the original tray being a little bit too small. Easily solvable on the way home tomorrow night. In the meantime, it's out of bounds.
He honestly thought he was doing me a service by pointing out the escape route. There was a tense 10 seconds when he emerged face to face with Squidge, but they were too surprised to do anything. Instead, job done, Spidey let me pick him up, had a cuddle in my dressinggown, and jumped back in!

How very obliging of him! LOL! Glad it didn't become something wild, and that Spidey was the only one down there to find the unknown escape route. Can't imagine the fun (or maybe I can to a degree) you would have had with all four out and having a go! So thankful for those stunned moments of frozen immobility . . . just wish I wasn't usually one of the frozen ones. Glad you moved before they did!!

Ok.........it's been Spidey-proofed, and still a little more to do to stop the boys getting underneath, but........ Right now, Squidgygoo can't figure out why he can't get under the cage anymore, and Spidey can't work out why he can't try to nibble Squidgygoo's paws any more! Sorry pictures are a bit crap - reflections and the flash will make it worse!

Squidge is really hacked off with me because he can't go underneath any more, but he did lift his front leg so I could groom him. The three boys seem to approve, but doesn't Spidergoo look a bit forlorn behind the perspex!

Excellent!
I'm sure Spidey is just lulling you into a false sense of security while he makes a new plan!

Excellent! I'm sure Spidey is just lulling you into a false sense of security while he makes a new plan! That's what I'm worried about! For the time being, I'm leaving the barrier up across the doorway.........

How are you and they finding the extension after a little more testing?

It's fine! They occasionally fall down the hole to the new level, and don't use the space as much as other areas, but there have been no more escapes or chewing

*update* the guys now run from the recycling bins at the side of the cage to the bins on the other side by squeezing around the back of the cage, which has a 2" gap between the bars and wall, on top of the stand frame. Unfortunately (or fortunately for entertainment purposes), it's led to a couple of incidents.... The first was Squidge turning to look at me from the bins, only for Spidey to reach through and grab the end of his tail. His panicked reaction was to jump behind the cage and try to run away, which meant Spidey could torment him all the way along! I stood at the nearest end to where he was and held out my hand. He saw it, pushed his way out, and legged it up my sleeve tw my shoulder! Two minute cuddle, and he ran off back there again, but now understands when I say "watch out". Sillygoo tried to go behind the cage last night, but isn't as sure footed as Spidey. It went quiet, and I looked to see if they were all in the cage, so I could close the door again. Spidergoo was upstairs in a wheel, Scaredygoo was sat in the hay basket stuffing his face, and Sillygoo? When I looked into the basement for goo #3, I could see this splattered starfished goo tummy on the other side of the perspex. He'd fallen down the gap, and was stuck in the 1" between the basement perspex and the wall

Good thing you were looking for him! Sounds like a cartoon drawing. Also sounds like that could become a popular place for antics and hijinks!

You need to set up a webcam bouncy so we can watch their antics I did try once ( have a camera that would have worked), but I couldn't find the right angle, and I'm usually too busy laughing to grab my camera first I swear, they must be like the pandas in the Kitkat advert! The only reason I get to see some of this is because they forget I'm there...............weirdos!

I'd love if they could write their version of events so we could compare that with yours!

Hahaha I can just see it...........Sillygoo would say something along the lines of "had a big fall, fighting for my life, and what does she do? Laugh!" Spidergoo would moan along the lines of "just bit the end of her ugly big toe again, serves her right for laughing at me"
